Following Potential 2020 draftees

These are terrible comps... I watched maybe 10 of his games this year in the NBL and I followe dhim closely as a recruit and i really think ur hardselling him short in areas that he's infact pretty advanced in for his age...

In terms of role, talent level and impact, those would be good outcomes for Hampton. You think he's better?

For sure... Those comps ur throwing out there completely rule out him being a starting pg someday... In a world where Shake Milton is starting playoff games at PG for a tean with a $130,000,000 roster, i just cant rule that out..

There's a type of "do it all" 6'5" combo guard that i usually like, players who can handle the ball low and quick in tight space, shoot the 3 and not be pushovers on defense; Spencer Dinwiddie, Derrick White, Shake Milton come to mind... These are players that fit on most rosters...

RJ Hampton is good enough to be appraised in that sort of vein... and he's ya know... 19 years old...

If u really feel like this is a dead draft, why not gamble on a kid like that?

I honestly feel like RJ is a bit more of a natural PG than some of those guys too...

To be honest, I am in love with Obi Toppin. I have been looking at potential trading partners for Gobert if we need to trade him. The warrior would be an interesting partner in what I have researched. I could see the Jazz taking Toppin with the #2 pick. Although the biggest drawback is that it would make the GSW one of the best teams in the NBA for the next few years.

But man i love Toppin on the Jazz

Toppin is bad bad at defense.

Yeah, Toppin is going to struggle defensively. Offensively, though he's going to have a big impact--like 20/10. It might be possible to play him next to Gobert, but Toppin without Gobert would be a big challenge defensively.

My favorite part of this draft is the 10 - 16 range with guys like Vassell, Williams, Pokusevski, Hampton, Maxey and Saddiq Bey. I think all those guys are very likely to be solid starters.

I'm also coming around on Sam Merrill. The Jazz could use a true motion shooting sniper like a Duncan Robinson, and Merrill could be that dude.

This is an example of a guy I would want to take if the Jazz were able to trade into the 2nd round in the 30's. Don't think he is going to last past the 40's with the rise of Duncan Robinson.

I've been looking at some risers/sleepers recently. Jay Scrubb and Grant Riller have gotten some buzz in our range. I'm not seeing it with Scrubb... But I think Riller could be really good. Seems like he could be a guy that falls to Toronto to kind of replace FVV and everyone wonders how he slipped so far.

Riller was teammates with Brantley in college. Would be a crazy reunion. Jazz might be the only team to ever reunite two sets of mid-major teammates (Hayward/Mack and possibly Riller/Brantley).

Merrill is on the older side. If he can show some playmaking skills, I think that helps him rise in the 2nd round.

I'm looking at his stats though, and his shooting is better than Nwora's across the board. Really elite shooting splits.

Yeah, Nwora is awful lmao. Merrill is the elite of elite at shooting. Makes hard looks with people in his face off motion.

Sam Vecenie in The Athletic posted a new big board. Let me know if there's someone you're curious about.

He also wrote a long article about why he's buying RJ Hampton stock after his shot mechanics changed. He moved Hampton up to 7 on his big board...
