These workout highlights went viral for the young prospect, but Gobert had some nice looking 3's. Probably the cleanest Gobert's shot has looked.

Almost every nba player can shoot threes fairly well in practice or relaxed settings like this. The dribble drive moves will also be things people get excited about... In non-2 on 2 settings that ball getting swiped.
Rudy could eventually make like 30-35% of his threes if we asked him to start shooting them. If Baynes can do it with that ugly *** shot then others probably can. The time to start would have been a couple years ago though.
There is danger with any new toy though... remember how Rudy occasionally makes a few good dribbles then does a fancy Euro step and it goes in... also remember the many times he takes one too many dribbles and turns it over and all of Jazzfanz screams WTF!
I played against Robert Swift in a high level Lifetime league a few years back... He hit nba threes at like 50% in games. I think these guys are way more skilled than they show in games and there is a reason some of this stuff stays in more laid back settings. This is the first video we've seen of him shooting shots like this in any type of game setting type drill at something that resembles game speed.
Yes, I know all these things. I never said expect Gobert to shoot these shots.I played against Robert Swift in a high level Lifetime league a few years back... He hit nba threes at like 50% in games. I'm glad Rudy is playing but I really don't expect him to shoot face up threes anytime in his career. This video is fun but doesn't do anything to change my expectations for what Rudy can do as a player.
He was shooting 80% from the line though. Same with Baynes.Marc Gasol didn't start hitting (or even taking) NBA 3 pointers until he was 32 years old. There is still hope for Rudy.
If it came at the start of a game then maybe... I'd be worried in the final 5 minutes of a game he uncorks one with 18 seconds on the shot clock. Just remembering times when he takes one too many dribbles... it seems to come at the exact wrong time for it. Maybe it can be like the Kendrick Perkins post up to start the game. Alright Rudy you got your shot up... now give them hell on defense please.I think Rudy is eventually going to be given a green light to shoot a couple of these per game. Of the wide-open variety.
I don’t have any different orientation toward experimentation on offense than I do experimentation on defense. They both need to happen; and good coaches will find time within the flow of games (and blowouts) to let it rip.If it came at the start of a game then maybe... He dominated but there was a lot of college level guys and a few pros that played occasionally... Anthony Johnson played a few games. No way. I played against him in HS too. They had a damn good team. A bunch of nerdy Jewish looking kids, minus the 7 foot red head decked out in FUBU. Literally right off the tip they threw a half court alley oop for a reverse dunk. Beat us by like 10 or so.

Swifts team wasn’t good though because it used a point system to balance the league and his teammates were bad. He went for like 30/20 every game.
We made it to the finals and lost... we had two current JuCo guys that led the way. Lost to a team with a guy that played at Oregon a few years back. Was super fun but I had to play a ton of minutes and the competition was too high level for me. Most of the time I was fine but there were times I looked at the guy I was guarding and thinking this dude gonna give me 50 if he gets aggressive.
Swift was super nice and was helping a few of the young big guys. Was really impressed with how cool he was.
Thats hilarious.Yeah, I'm from Utah so his team came up to play at a tournament at SLCC, a team from Oakland (Leon Powe was on it), NJ (JR Smith was on it). Virginia (JJ Redick) ... so it was a really good tourney. I remember Swift walking in with long curly red hair, baggiest jeans you've ever seen on a ginger, a XXXXXXXL shirt down to his knees. He was good, not great. They had like 2 6'6" wings that looked like software developers but were knocking in long long 3's and dunking on everyone. I think one went to Nevada and one went to a WCC school, then obviously Swift went straight to the pros. But other than being gigantic he was like their 3rd best player. We also had a D1 center that matched up pretty well with him but he had a similar story to Swift after HS, only his came during his freshman year of college. Idiots.
JR Smith and JJ Redick were easily the best players though. Light years ahead of everyone else. It wasn't even close.
Thats hilarious.
NBA players are ridiculously good. I remember a buddy of mine telling me about being matched up with Mike Miller and telling himself that there couldn't possibly be anyone better at basketball than him.
Hey I'm a tier below you guy... you are the guy that lights my *** up. So it could be worse you could be 6' and max out as a HS benchwarmer.Yeah, it comes to a point where you realize, even though I was/am 6'2", played JUCO, that there are some people that are so so good there is literally nothing you can do. You can't crowd them or they will blow by you like you are stapled to the floor, back off and they'll shoot 60% from 3, foul them and you are out of the game in 5 minutes, playing against elite top 50 HS guys is legit like me when I was just dicking around in the backyard with my 12 year old brother.
Life's a bitch and then you die.
So this is why you like Georges Niang so much, you relate to him.He dominated but there was a lot of college level guys and a few pros that played occasionally... Anthony Johnson played a few games.
