College Football Conferenece Expansion

IF BYU refused the Big 12's invitation, then their leadership needs to be fired.

You're a Mormon right? Isn't their leadership essentially church leaders? That has to be an interesting dichotomy with you because they can't just be fired. The fact that people that likely don't have any grasp on college athletics are the decision makers is by far the scariest part about being a BYU fan.

False.

They can be fired. Working at BYU isn't a church calling.

The point was that if BYU refuses, it's not because it was the AD doing so or anything like that. Obviously working at BYU is not a church calling, or else you, Beantown, and Archie would be cleaning toilets at the Wilk right now instead of posting on Jazzfanz.

The whole point of Independence, as stated by them, was exposure. If BYU is good, people take notice, they look further into the school, notice that channel they have always had but never watched, Byutv, and maybe come to God eventually. Nothing wrong with that, but the key of course is having good sports teams. Are they willing to have good sports teams or was this thing just kind of a fun thing for them? That's the question. And is it even possible to attract that outside crowed external from a conference if they aren't winning games?

If this is true then it would be a huge mistake. I can't substantiate the claims so I am much more willing too accept that the Big 12 indeed doesn't want BYU. Which wouldn't have shocked me until they let TCU in. Maybe they thought one more religious school was one too many. Who knows?

#6 I seriously wonder how much longer BYU can refuse invites (if it's true), still charge a pretty penny for their games, have lost a few games (like this year), and still receive a good gate while that team up north is playing real football teams and playing for a purpose?
Utah's playing for a purpose? At 0-3 in Conference, the only purpose their playing for is a crappy bowl. Just like BYU.

Utah's playing for a much better bowl than BYU. Utah's worst case scenario bowl game is better than the Armed Forces Bowl.
