Utah Republicans finally admit to gerrymandering during current redistricting

Actually it can.
You can't say the dems here would've done this or that. You absolutely can't. Are you clairvoyant? Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't, it's not really relevant because it's just hypothesizing and nothing else. What we do know is that crooks continue to run the state. That's all that matters, and what is happening is wrong. It is not a complex issue, nor is it really up to debate for people with a sense of decency.

According to wikipedia, seven states use independent/bipartisan comissions exclusive and three others use them to suggest maps to be approved.
So 20% of the states in this country even have a clue.

And people wonder why the Occupy message can't nail down some base ideas. I'll clue everyone in; we're ****ed.

Look around at other states and see what Democrats and Republicans have done concerning redistricting. Look at Illinois as a perfect example of it. Any party who has control and is able set the boundaries is going to do so to favor their party. As for corrupt, you have seen corrupt until you have studied Chicago. If your argument is that only Republicans do it in our state then I would agree. We are a red state. But in Illinois..... Like I said, whatever party has the power is going to give themselves the advantage.

And that changes the boundaries on what is right and wrong?

I don't care what party does it, it's ****ed and it's wrong.

I never said it wasn't. I said both parties do it so to point it out does nothing. Now if you want to find a way to correct I will be right there with you. But to just point out that only one side does it is disingenuous(like the OP did).

No I haven't been to the meetings. I only read and hear what I want to hear. I base everything I know[sic] on what I get from PrideInUtah. I am the the Dumbacrat version of Scat.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm shocked, by the way, really shocked.

But all in all, my experiences with local politics has been poor. You either agree with the loudmouth (who usually is a leader in your ward or stake) or shutup. If you disagree, you're shunned (at both political and religious places) and made to feel like you're not a good member, you're a socialist, and are spitting upon the divine founding fathers.

Interesting. I've been to weekly council meetings and every town hall meeting in T-Ville for the last 18 months and have yet to hear/see anything remotely close to this. Weird, it's almost like you've already got some brainwashed agenda/idea of what's going on, so despite what is really going on, your mind is made up. Again, this is shocking news.

Also, I love it how tools like Thriller and Sharpy (RIP) like to sneak jabs at Mormons any chance they can get, even though it has nothing to do with anything. Brilliant.

Pretty sure I never said WHERE I have read reports about the meetings. That is your assumption. Nice try though.

Well, you linked PrideInUtah, and you've never quoted or linked anything that wasn't associated with a pro-GLTB slant. I beg you to tell me I'm wrong on this one.

You are wrong.

Not that I have to prove myself to you, but: KSL.com, SLTrib.com, and sometimes DeseretNews.com. Are those sites reputable enough for you?

*Edit* Also redistrictutah.com.

A few points here, aren't you already part of a city council? Obviously you're going to have a biased opinion in favor of whatever crap you see.

Secondly, you think that demographics change from city to city, country to county?

Thirdly? Oh please, that wasn't a cheap shot at Mormons, trout. Stop acting like you're always the victim here. Want me to play a violin for you? Leave your cross and shield behind, no one is bashing Mormons.

I get so tired of Mormons (which I am one) always making themselves out to be martyrs. We bring a lot of crap on ourselves too. I can't wait to see in the coming months the excuses from the Romnities on how the "liberal media" and the "anti-Mormons" are what doomed their beloved leader's chances to win the Presidential election. In reality, the guy is just a spoiled *** brat who flip flops all over the place, cannot connect with anyone, and isn't supported by the left or the right (despite his bending over to the tea party peeps).

Lastly, I loved how you didn't touch any of the points I made. Again, if you're going to disagree, fine. But at least bring the meat. The "Utopia project" isn't Obamacare, isn't Communism, and isn't the end of the world. I've also heard comparisons to Obamacare being equal to "taking away" the freedoms of our people. And that Bennett was a socialist for the bailouts. I don't think it should have been done. But the bullying and wild accusations (which I listed above) that I've seen from city council meetings and caucuses bring me to the understanding as to why people like Katie don't feel very welcoming in bringing forth opposing views.

Agree or disagree trout, I don't care. But please, don't play the victim card here.

Yes, because I play the victim card all the time. You idiot.

Nope, I'm not currently involved with a city council. I go to the meetings as a concerned resident. Great job on making an assumption based on a falsehood though -- as I said earlier, "it's almost like you've already got some brainwashed agenda/idea of what's going on, so despite what is really going on, your mind is made up." I love it when things clear themselves up after the first sentence. Way to go.

Secondly, you think that demographics change from city to city, country to county?
Great question! I was wondering the exact same thing when you stated:

So, are you going to contradict yourself here again, ala Salty, or are you just going to throw another neg rep at me and scatter into another thread where you can spread your stupidity?

Thirdly? Oh please, that wasn't a cheap shot at Mormons, trout. Stop acting like you're always the victim here. Want me to play a violin for you? Leave your cross and shield behind, no one is bashing Mormons.
Who's really playing the victim here? Sounds to me like someone somewhere in the LDS church did you wrong and you feel the need to boo-hoo about it. I **'d the above statements for your pleasure. Please tell me the point of saying those two things within the context of this thread. No, really, go ahead. I'll wait.

Again, solid. I did enjoy the "Cross and Shield" bit though, that made me laugh.

Making themselves out to martyrs? Seriously? WTF are you even talking about? I mean it, do you really have any idea what is going on in your brain? Perhaps you can give me some examples of "martyrdom' from Mormons -- should be easy since they always do it.

Lastly, I loved how you didn't touch any of the points I made. Again, if you're going to disagree, fine. But at least bring the meat.
Oh, those were points? Looked a lot like thoughtless ramblings from an incoherent liberal version of Millsappa. Your "points" have nothing to do with this thread, or anything in general, and are based on a extremely skewed view of politics. You are no better than Beck, Limbaugh, or any of those other right wing nut jobs that you complain about. YOU ARE THEM. Congrats on not being able to realize how utterly misinformed you really are.

Agree or disagree trout, I don't care. But please, don't play the victim card here.

Again, lot's of crying and victim playing going on in here, but I assure you that not one drop of it is from me.

Carry on.

Katie,

I say this in all seriousness. Other than the occasional Niners posts, do you ever start a thread that's not related to your genderbending issues? Seriously, your in your face, cheerleading on it almost make me want to become a Republican and oppose the freedoms for which you fight.

It's a bit much.

I'm pretty sure the demographic changes even in Utah. How in the hell did Salt Lake elect a democrat for a mayor if it isn't a different demographic? Ever see a democrat mayor in Provo (non-partisan my ***, the elections are centered around painting each other as democrats or RINO's usually)? Here is an example:

Salt Lake City

At the 2010 Census, the city's population was 75.13% White (61.83% non-Hispanic White alone), 2.73% Black or African American, 1.24% American Indian and Alaska Native, 4.42% Asian, 2.03% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, 10.75% from some other race and 3.7% from two or more races. 22.33% of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.[54]

Provo

As of the 2000 census[3], 105,166 people, 29,192 households, and 19,938 families resided in the city. The population density was 2,653.2 people per square mile (1,024.3/km²). There were 30,374 housing units at an average density of 766.3 per square mile (295.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 88.52% White, 0.46% Black or African American, 0.80% American Indian, 1.83% Asian, 0.84% Pacific Islander, 5.10% from other races, and 2.44% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.47% of the population.

Even Provo to Orem is pretty different:

Orem

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 84,324 people, 23,382 households, and 19,079 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,572.6 people per square mile (1,765.6/km²). There were 24,166 housing units at an average density of 1,310.4 per square mile (506.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 90.80% White, 0.33% African American, 0.73% Native American, 1.45% Asian, 0.86% Pacific Islander, 3.64% from other races, and 2.18% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.56% of the population.

Not dramatic really but obviously enough to impact local politics.

I stopped reading after you said that I had made an assumption about your city council duties/experiences. Had I assumed, I wouldn't have written it in a form of a question.

But carry on, the world is against me blame everybody but myself rant rant rant bla bla bla cry cry cry insult after insult I hate thriller my organs almost failed i almost died rant rant rant cry cry cry.

You'd think that after your "experiences" you wouldn't be such a pompous dumbass. But I'm mistaken.

And I'm sorry for having different experiences than you. I guess you're right and I'm wrong and I'm just insulting Mormons whenever I get a chance.

Are you sure about that? Maybe you should go back and read through this thread again. I don't know how you twisted this to have any relation to my transgender identity. That is quite the stretch you made there.

I would have to agree with Mr. Hobo. This seems like a trend for most of your threads.

So instead of discussing the real issue here, the two of you want to find some bogus way to link this to an LGBT message. Got it.

Not at all. I think you will find that I discussed this issue with other posters. I was just agreeing with Mr. Hobo's statement. Is there something wrong with having an opinion?
