What's new

Nba don't want the Jazz to win the title.

Aldridge going to the East is a good news for the Jazz. Plus nets needs defense and Aldridge is simply too slow to help them on that end. Let Bucks and Sixers worry about these guys. We should be focusing on beat LA

I like Aldrige in the East. And I am sure for money reasons it is better for the NBA to have big market teams win. However, if I thought they were rigging it I would stop watching. Go Jazz.

As far as the title goes, no they do not want Utah to win. If they had their way the championship would rotate among the big-market cities to garner the most revenue.

Take the last game. I'm just the final minute the refs missed, or chose not to make, 3 blatant calls including Rudy getting smacked in the head. Otherwise the game was reasonably officiated for the most part. But of course they had no reason to mess with the officiating until the last minute because the jazz more or less **** the bed in the 2nd half. They only needed to engage the refs to try to push the outcome in a different direction. So no matter what we will always have an uphill battle to get a ring. We'll always be playing 5 on 8. It's been that way since 98 and the last game where 3 blatant calls, combining for a 6-point swing, set up the final shot push-off which was also ignored.

So no, the league absolutely does not want the jazz to win a championship when powerhouse marketing teams are in the running.

Kind of reminds me of the situation where the Lakers acquired Gary Payton and Karl Malone or the last Nets super team. You never know with situations like this. Might be a case of too many cooks in the kitchen. Although the Lakers probably would have beaten Detroit if they were healthy. Super teams are one of the worst things if not the worst about the NBA.

I HATE the super team mentality. “I’m not talented enough to win with my own team so I’ll join a team already loaded because I want winning to be easy”

This is why Jordan will always still be viewed as the better player over Lebron. Lebron chases rings by joining up with his friends. Jordan stayed and said I got this.

Jordan played with Pippen dude. He didnt have to move.

I don’t think that was his point. How many seasons did it take for Jordan to finally win a ring? I think the point was “Jordan stayed and said I got this.” Hopefully we’ll see that same kind of thinking with Rudy and DM.

Does the NBA really make more money if big teams make the finals? I mean the advertisers and the tv rights have already paid. Does someone rescind their TV commercial if it is the Bucks and the Jazz? If the NBA were truly concerned enough about ratings to cheat, they would have made many different financial decisions the last few years.

I mean maybe LeBron Jersey kid gets a Mitchell jersey too. NFL makes money no matter who wins the Superbowl.

You are thinking very short term. In the long run it's much more profitable to promote the bigger franchises and players. Do you think the clippers make more money now or when they were straight up bottom feeders? Or golden state? Of course those areas being successful gets more game fans, even if just bandwagoners. Do you think the jazz winning the championship or the Lakers will generate more bandwagon fans? Will the jazz missing the finals or the Lakers missing the finals cause more fans to quit watching the games in the playoffs? It's a matter of sheer numbers. Double the entire jazz fan-base and it won't equal a 20% swing in the Lakers fan-base. And it means the success of the future agreements, of course it has nothing to do with current already set contacts. But if the big name teams are less successful will the TV stations expect more or fewer viewers for the next contract? That will impact the money. It's more than just one game or one season. It's much more valuable over the long-run for the big name teams to win.

The NBA will root for the Jazz until up to the point they reach the WCF then turn heel on them. They'll side with either the Lakers or Clippers because it'll get more them more profit via ratings during the Finals. If the Jazz went to the Finals, not much profit would be made unfortunately. Let's be honest here, the Jazz aren't a popular team in the NBA. Ppl like to make fun of them and the ppl of Utah.

The NBA knows this, which is why they handed the NBA all star to Utah instead, as a compensation. For me, my expectations for the Jazz is the WCF but in reality it'll be another 2nd rd exit.

I think Nets going to make the finals. Isn't the owner Chinese? There's probably some huge deals waiting for the NBA and players if they do. They lost a lot of money with the Morley issue, probably one of the reasons why harden chose Nets. Now that Morley is the gm of 76ers,china don't air their games, not even replays.

The league thinks this is our excuse but it's a reality. That being said we have to stop choking for us to even think that far ahead

And kukoc and kerr and rodman and Phil jackson to name a few more. Why the hell would he leave that?

I wonder what jordan would have done if those guys were replaced with Shannon brown, daniel gibson, drew gooden, larry hughes, zudrunas illgaskas, damon jones, dwane jones, ira newble, sasha pavlovic, scott pollard, Eric snow, anderson vallejo, and david wesley.

Lebron took that team to the finals btw. That team might have finished in dead last without lebron. Instead they went to the ****ing finals. That roster is straight garbage.
