Morgan did not play anywhere near the level Niang is right now. We also have a very deep roster. These young guys arent getting time and not getting developed much, we are in a win now mode.

Yes we are in win mode now, but we should have improved our few shortcomings through trade.

My question, is if we face a team in the playoff whose player will perform like Murray did against us, which player of our roster will stop him?
This is the reason why we have to rely on Oni and give him meaningful minutes in the regular season.

I think Niang is Quin's pet.

Niang is a crucial piece for us. Smaller contract, good overall impact. He's not an all-star, but he's playing his role this season better than ever. His defense is much improved. He's passable rather than a net negative now.

I once thought otherwise but niang has done enough at this point. He deserves his spot on the rotation

His advanced stats are even better when you think about that he is the only player who isnt on the court with our best player, Gobert. His PER is 3rd best on out team, his WS/48 is 2nd best on our team, his offensive rating per 100 is the best on our team, defensive rating per 100 is 2nd best, and his defensive box score +/- is 2nd on our team.

Yeah, because none of these games right now are that important really, Lakers are playing without their best players, Jazz is gonna be without their star. In the end, whether they are gonna finish first or second is not gonna make a big difference. Lakers are currently fifth in the western conference, but for most people they are number one favourite to win it all. So all these games right now are just something they gotta do before the playoffs.Its all about who is gonna perform in the playoffs, Jazz can lose 10 in a row right now, but if they bring it in the playoffs and make the finals, nobody will care about that losing streak

I do agree with you that it’s not really must win but disagree with your last statement because I guarantee you the Lakers can do just ok from here on out and still go to the finals. The jazz just don’t have that luxury - they really need very solid rhythm going into the playoffs to go very far because they haven’t done it before.

I don't know about that. The best playoff run we've had in the post-Stockton/Malone era was 2007. That team had almost no deep playoff experience, was slumping hard going into the playoffs (went like 8-12 in the last month of the regular season), and then made it to the WCF.

We had a little luck that year. If Dallas (IIRC) hadn't choked against the Warriors I think the Jazz lose in the second round. Yeah, the Jazz went to the WCF, but got absolutely spanked by the Spurs.

Maybe, but my point is that them slumping going into the playoffs didn't hurt them. I think that sort of thing is overrated.
