Ostertag kicking Olijuwan's *** on NBA tv?

Haha, I was actually making fun of your double-post .. but yeah, the big guy was the best player the JAZZ ever had, for sure!

"Rudy Tomjonavich has died 1000 deaths tonight"

"If anyone other than Stockton or Malone take this shot, there will be questions for ETERNITY!"

I'm sure I will get beaten up for this, but I wish we had Tag on this team. Dude could box out dominate the boards when it mattered most. I know he wasn't always focused but in big games or big moments he was clutch. The 97 Tag would be are best big defender if he was on the current jazz team.

Yeah '96-97 Ostertag was a very competent center. Played Shaq and Hakeem tough in back-to-back series and had a huge Game 5 in the NBA Finals. Post-$39 million contract Ostertag would turn in one of those great performances once every 15-20 games where he could alter a game at both ends, get your hopes up, then let you down. Didn't have the hands or the skill (although in 2002-03 he did show some ability to hit the foul line jumper) but he had the natural shot-blocking skills that can't be teached. If Fes had the same timing and ability to use his length - he would've been impossible to keep out of the rotation.

After watching that game for 5 minutes it's readily obvious that Ostertag's conditioning made all the difference. You can see it in his body language. The simple fact is he was in great shape that year because he was playing for a contract. The rest of his career he wasn't.

I also forgot how badly Barkley blew the last play - he was incredibly late recognizing the high screen by Malone and frankly should have expected it in the first place. Stockton never should have gotten the open look that he got.

I'm seriously mad that I have to listen to Hubie Brown do commentary when people in the 90's got Bill Walton.

Bill Walton actually knew what he was talking about, could pronounce most names, and he was great with Jones.

Hubie Brown rarely knows what game he's watching, can't pronounce most names, and he doesn't add anything to the commentary...

However, none of this compares to the hellish sound of Mark Jackson, who did nothing more than try and sound cool and kiss butt to the league. JVG, who did nothing more than rant about the refs. And the other guy, who just sounded like a girl.

LOL - I love it.

People HATED Bill Walton when he did commentary. Critics used to kill him for his hyperbole and fans used to kill him for his hypercriticism.

I just remember every Jazz game he did he talked about how great Jazz defense was and how Harpring use to play Football.

Ainge and Sir Charles were two of my favorite players, and were / are also excellent on air commentators.

Walton was entertaining but also said some really dumb stuff sometimes that got annnoying, and was a suck up to the league and the league's anointed stars, which helps one keep the job.

M Jackson is painful to listen to.
