What's new

Nov 7th SLCC Exibition game feature several Jazz players

Can I get anyone to agree with me on Big Al? When they threw the ball to him in the post he was unstoppable. He could dominate and do whatever he wanted. He just didn't get as many touches as Favors because everyone knew the fans were there to see the young guys.

Big Al looked good to me last night.

Now that you say it, Big Al actually did look a little more explosive, which could be huge for a player like him. But him being able to score on anybody is nothing new. I don't even know if he played at all in the second half..

It's too bad the White Mamba didn't come and play.
It would've been nice to see Hayward playing with the team.

Well it's great news for Al then. Everyone keeps acting like Favors, and Burks were our best players. Not hearing much about Al other than he looked like he was in good shape.
Thank you for the info.

Burks is Going to be a stud! top 10 scorer in in the NBA five years from now. i keep saying it, but people disagrees or are not listening. The dude has some major offensive ability. lets face it, Burks may prove to be the most talented two guard the jazz have ever had in 2 to 3 years. he'll only be 22 or 23!! ;D

Dude give me a break. He posted up against Enes 3 times, and then every other time was against freaking evens. Of course he looked unstoppable.

I'm not saying he looked bad or anything, I'm a huge big Al fan. But trying to say he looks that much better or unstoppable is just stupid.

It's not hard to dominate when no one is playing defense.

Wouldn't it be nice if this were true!!

"Derek Harper, who toiled memorably for the Knicks and Mavericks (among others) during his playing career, told Dwain Price of the Star-Telegram that he believes a deal is imminent:

”I think tomorrow we’re going to have a deal. I think guys want to play.”

“You talk about guys missing $300,000-$400,000 checks. That’s a lot of money to miss.”

This year the 10th top scorer in the league was nowitzki. So he has a longgggg way to go in order to be a top 10 scorer in the league. He should first learn how to play defense, get major mins, and then we will talk about how good scorer he will be.

Umm, sorry, but where did you get this idea of Alec Burks being a bad defender? Have you watched him play....ever? I love how you say that we shouldn't come to judgements about his offense, but then you immediately dismiss his defense and say he has a lot of work to put in.

I think the consensus among draft people was that Burks has the physical tools to be a good defender. But to date he hasn't shown the mental focus or desire to play good defense. Note that he played forward in a 2-3 zone team. So we don't have a lot of tape of him playing man to man.

I realize this, but he was also the star-offensive player for not the greatest team. I think Gordon Hayward has proven that a player's defensive ability is never really known until they step foot in the NBA, even if their college reputations indicate otherwise.

He may be good but being the most talented 2 guard during a 3 year stretch is not impressive. Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver, CJ Miles and Hayward. Hayward looks decent but the others didn't do much

I think he meant in 2 to 3 years he could become the best Jazz SG ever?

Here is a video I took of a Wesley Matthews to Jeremy Evans Alley-Oop which included a windmill for good measure. I wish I had a better angle.

I watched his highlights and i didn't see any effort by his side in defense, no hustle, no tenacity, so that's what i am worried of. He looks like a skilled guy, so thats good, but i don't think he will become another Wade or something. At best he can be like a Kenyon Martin which is good.
