Jazz Offseason Plan

Here's my super duper realistic offseason for the Jazz. The Jazz went full send in going all out on 3 point shooting now it's time to get crazy again because you know what in a small market stars aren't flocking to you in free agency so you got to innovate.

1st. Conley S&T + filler for Simmons if his value seems as low as fans are making it out to be then jump on it. Yes he can't shoot to save his life but guess what we already have someone like that so we can make it work. Ben is elite in other aspects of the game. Play him as a point center.

2nd. Now for other guy that can't shoot on our team. You can't have Ben and Rudy on the floor together because neither of them can shoot and you're not paying someone $30m+ to come off the bench so now you have to move Rudy. My go to in this scenario would be a deal around Rudy for Jaylen Brown

Starting 5 consisting of Don, Royce, Jaylen, Bojan & Simmons with Ben being your ball facilitator on offense would be a very good team IMO.
I think you meant to say super duper unrealistic.

This team is pretty much dead in the water now. No matter what they do this off season, the other rival playoff teams will only get better. Warriors, Lakers, Nuggets will all be healthy next season and this team won't be better than those teams. Also Suns, Clippers Dallas will be better too.

Next season it'll probably be a 1st rd exit again so don't get too excited for the next season.

Cmon man, have faith. We have cards we can play.

Core 3 - Don is a superstar. Top 10 NBA player. Royce and Joe are solid 3andD guys. They'd be part of any team's 8 man rotation.

Then we try to build a diverse set of 5 guys to support those 3 using:

Rudy - top 5 NBA center. Would be excellent with facilitating PG.
Bojan is one of the best shooters in the league.
Clarkson - volume scorer fine coming off the bench
Favors - solid big for a team who lacks options at C
Conley - aging, fragile PG but still great when healthy

Some of the 5 above can join the Core 3, but it makes no sense to bring all of them back considering we need at least 2 more good perimeter defenders and 1 solid stretch 5.

I had a dream last night that Hayward was back on the Jazz lol. Dammit, he would have been perfect...

Jaylen Brown was like the only realistic player I would have traded Rudy for. But that was a year or two ago and I think Brown is too good now where that ship has sailed.

I had a dream last night that I had a pet duck and a pet panda bear and they were best friends.

I can’t imagine a more realistic scenario than (a) a full-scale effort to retain Conley, (b) dumping an expensive asset in order to make the tax burden more feasible (Favors or Clarkson, probably), and (c) an effort to sell the fan base on the “internal development” of guys like Oni, Hughes (“he didn’t even have teh training camp, guys!”), Forrest, and maybe Brantley.

We’ve painted ourselves into a corner.

In the event that Conley doesn’t re-sign, then we are definitely even worse off than in the scenario outlined above—make no mistake about that. In this scenario, I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t put Clarkson and Bogie squarely on the trading block, because you can’t just run it back without Conley and not improve the perimeter defense.

I wonder if Bogie could be turned into Covington or Marcus Smart. Too bad we have so little in the way of draft capital.
Yesterday the Aussie League had a finals game yesterday and Jock Landale had 12 points 17 boards and a couple of blocks in the win and John Mooney had 17 points and 9 boards for the other team. Mooney is a Jack Cooley with more talent. Both of these guys are free agents and would probably play for the minimum. JIngles is a big Landale fan.

I had a dream that I had thousands of donuts around me and started eating them but couldn’t taste a thing... I totally hit the local donut shop up and have good news... they tasted great.

I’d love to lay out a few elaborate scenarios but the truth is it will be maybe one solid useable addition and some rearranging of deck chairs...

We have a lot of downside risk in that Mike might leave us and then it really won’t matter too much what we do. Our upside potential this offseason is uhhhhhhh not great. So very likely to see full force effort to run most of this back.

One thing is for absolute certain no doubt at all about it:

There is no reason to go into next season with Rudy, Favors AND Doke. What is the need of spending close to $50 million on bigs who can't play small ball or stretch the floor?

1 more year, guys. Then, bigger heads will start to fall. Until then, just give your Lopo calculators a break.

I think he's fine as the 5th best starter. The guy can do a decent job guarding 1-4 and he shoots around 40% from 3. He also knows his role so he doesn't try to do too much.
But sometimes he lacks offensively, too timid, we struggle with him and Gobert being offensively restricted

Why one more year? Another postseason like this, Don demands out, we are paying Rudy a fortune, and we are Minnesota for the foreseeable future.

I agree. He can do a little better around the edges, but I don't think our defensive or offensive rating suffer because of Royce. A great team needs numerous guys like Royce. I'm perfectly fine with him being our worst starter. He does the little stuff, works hard, and asks for nothing.
