Jazz Offseason Plan

I wonder if Mike let's us know soon if he's leaving or if he waits until the suitors can woo him. Knowing before the draft could be helpful.
Mike and Ryan seem to be friendly. I hope they would have some off the record kinda conversations. I think we will have a very good idea.

Hope so. We can't afford to drag our feet past the draft into free agency while Mike Conley and his family try to figure out what they want to do.

Is it even possible to move Favors? We would likely have to give up draft picks to get someone to take his contract.

Would have to include him with Bojan or Clarkson. Maybe #30 gets it done but I doubt any team would want to give up cap space during the draft for Favors.

Moving Favs would be the most ideal. At least we could see what Dok has and Favs is the least contributing of the three to the team. He is making 9.72M this year so that would help the luxury tax considerably. We’d basically be running it completely back with Dok in the rotation instead of Favs.
We can hope. Otherwise, therre will be a lot of posters on here complaining about how our defense disappears when Gobert sits.

I think he would likely retire then play basketball in Australia where he lives. Honestly, money doesn’t seem to be all that important to Ingles, In the grand scheme of things
Money wouldn't matter much to me either if I had 50 million in the bank. I could do so kinds of **** not worrying about money. **** yeah!

I mean it represents like 25% of his lifetime basketball earnings... so I'm guessing it still matters. I'm sure he doesn't need it... but not many guys will turn down 25% of their career earnings for a one year effort.

Depends... I have a couple Favs trades... ya ready...

Favs and #30 for Delon Wright and #39. Gets us a guard and a good perimeter defender. Saves a few million between the cap hold for the pick and the contract differences.

Favs and #30 to Charlotte for Jalen McDaniels 55, 56 this year. They have space and a need at center. McDaniels is an interesting guy. I can see him putting it together and being the big wing we need off the bench on the cheap... I could see him being very average. This is primarily about the money savings but kinda cute I guess.

And then the all ****ing in deal... Favs and a 2024 top 4 protected pick ( pick protection stays the same for multiple years) for Lu Dort. Again OKC can take the salary. We YOLO our future and just say eff it. Dort is under team control and cheap for a while. OKC can tank a little harder and collect all the draft picks.

Its great fun trying to work around a contract that you signed this year that a bunch of internet message board morons predicted would be a problem. I will take half of DL's consulting salary and work twice as many hours. Ryan - call my agent.

Favors, Matt Thomas and #30

for

Kuzma

Lakers get a more athletic big who can backup often injured AD. They also get to save a few million this year and down the road on Kuzma's deal.

We get more quality depth that can play during the playoffs.

There is also a deal with NY and OKC where Favs goes to NY, Knox goes to OKC, we get Kenrich Williams we throw in the #30 and take back a second from NY or OKC...

If Mike bails I would look at other deals where we take back more salary but for now I'm guessing the savings are what we'd be after.

I’ve heard him on many occasions and interviews on the radio that he only has interest in playing for the jazz. I’m guessing if he got traded mid season he’d probably finish the year, but in an off season trade, I think he would just retire and move back to Australia where he would probably be able to continue his bball career. Just listening to him and my opinion of him, I think he’d have zero issues leaving Money on the table in the nba. I also know for a fact he won’t play for anyone but the jazz.

Absolutely on board with Dok replacing Favors. He's underrated here considerably.

Moving Bogey or Favs right now would yield us the smallest return. Might as well wait another season when they become summer expiring and trade them midseason 2022/23.

So we’re gonna wait 3 years before we even try to play our 1st round draft pick from last year?

Bojan would get us something...

The issue is the crazy tax we will pay next year if we keep Mike. So trade Favs for a small return essentially gets you the small return plus the ability to bring back Mike or use the taxpayer MLE.

Favs may get you something different. He's not a bad player... he's not a guy you want to play a ton in the playoffs. He would improve several teams significantly at the center position.
