What's new

The story behind the Utah Jazz’s front-office shake-up, and why it happened now

To get rid of Bradley-one 2nd round pick.

To get rid of Ed-two 2nd round picks

To get rid of Tucker-one 2nd round pick

To get Matty ice-one 2nd round pick

To get Doke-one 1st round pick

To sign Hughes- one 2nd round pick PLUS 2.4M in salary guaranteed through the end of next season.

That's 7 draft picks equate to zero in production.
The Knicks turned around and traded Davis for two second round picks and filler that was waived. They got 4 picks out of that deal. Bradley was then traded straight across for a guy who didn’t play this year, without having to dump a pick.

You seem...... Bitter

Nah I just thought it was hilarious... he wasn’t mean but just very dismissive and really scoffed at the idea that someone thought he was going to get cut. He actually did a lot of jobs in the front office. He got 42 years for a reason I’m sure.
LIke, I get not wanting to play Exum much. Dude was a super weird player and just flat out couldnt do a lot of things that normal NBA players can (shoot off the dribble). Goss had talent and ability to play, he just wasnt a great athlete. Why not give him a shot and see if he figures out the athleticism gap? It kind of makes me worried long-term about dudes like Elijah Hughes. Once Quin decides you can't play, do you really have a shot at getting on his good side?
why do we give NWG the benefit of the doubt and not Shaq? Just curious. Seem to remember once Quin decides a guy can’t play and other nba teams don’t sign him that it’s obvious the guy sucks.

What upsets me the most about drafting Udoka is that after you pick him and praise the heck out of him. You then re-sign Favors for 3 years. What was the point of doing this? How does Udoka get experience if he is stuck behind an aging vet and with a coach who didn't want to draft him. Either you draft a SG/SF and get Favors or you draft Udoka and then in FA sign the SG/SF that the Jazz needed. What made it more frustrating is DL talking about the need for an athletic SG/SF with size. Then he doesn't do it. Still makes no sense to me.

I mean, just because they didnt want to draft him where they did doesnt mean they don't want him.
Try convincing Udoka of that. I am sure he is having one of those what the blank moments. The real issue is if they were going to bring back Favors then why do you draft him?

This is my main complaint with Quin and is worrisome for future players. Quin is like Sloan in his regard for keeping the rotations the same. I think this was one reason why the Jazz never won a championship.

That's why we should've moved DL last year. He clearly lost it. Tony Jones kinda said it in his podcast that it wasn't even Quin who was fed up, it was Ryan Smith who wanted him out personally. But losing this season really hurts, since we might not get another legit shot at a championship with DM/Rudy again.

How many draft picks would it have taken to unload DL?

They put a sheep skin over a wolf, but i could see right through it.

Hopefully we sort it out, and put together a real contender next year.

Clearly there were problems, and the number 1 record kind of allowed people to live in a fairytale.

I mean, it’s obvious the source is Fredman, right?

Guy was like, “fire me after 42 years? Hell ya I’m airing the dirty laundry from the last few seasons.”

Well played, Fred. Well played. And honestly, I would have let the Jazz lifer retire on his terms were I Smith. I would have trimmed elsewhere.
Yeah unless the guy was also being divisive for whatever reason, that would have been the classy move.
