2021 NBA Draft Preview (new thread)

Yall remember that Sene guy about 15 years ago with the ridiculous wingspan who just never amounted to anything? I get that vibe with Thor.

Spoken like a true Alabama University dumbass.

1. Hating on an Auburn player
2. Making a ridiculous comparison that is clearly only based on race. You see two extremely dark complexioned players and you automatically comp them lmfao.

Its called The University of Alabama

I remember being really excited about Sene. Wanted him for Utah. Lean, athletic beast. Thor the same. Incredible ceilings. Could be total busts too.

Alabama University dude please go back and look at Sene film and then look at JT Thor film.

The whole intrigue of JT Thor is that he's fluid enough to be a wing on both ends while having incredible size/length and a budding skillset.

Sene was just a really long guy dude who moved awkwardly and had a lot of defensive potential. He never had the potential skillset of a wing. He never had the potential to develop into anything more than a defensive center.

The comparison is flat out race based because they are both incredibly dark complexioned individuals.

Gobert was compared to Sene coming out of the draft as a worst case outcome.

That made sense.

Comparing Sene to Thor is nonsensical and continues to show how little Lopo knows.

Sene was projected as a prototypical big man coming into the draft. He was more of a defensive presence and you would hope that the decent post moves he had would turn into a good offensive game. He was more of a Tyson Chandler/Clint Capela type of player coming out.

I vividly remember him playing pretty good in the RMR. I don’t think a single person projected him as a outside threat at all.

I watched a segment on Sene that draft that said he had the potential to have an outside game. He was that much of an athlete that anything was possible. He was that late riser in the draft who everybody dreamed would create a total skill set to dominate the league. He was kind of like Giannis before Giannis. If he puts it all together kind of guy.

Thor is much of the same. Before the combine, not much talk of Thor going really high. After combine measurements, he might get lottery consideration. He too is not known as a shooter but "might create a decent shot". Athleticism off the charts.

One made me think of the other. Tre Mann makes me think of Trae Young. I bet that's racist too.

The most important thing you can look for in a late first round pick is work ethic.

That is why I do not like the Makers. That is why Sene never panned out.

I havent watch enough Thor to make a decision on him but the jazz need to pick a guy who is s gym rat.

Work can make the average good and the talented great.

That is what made Gobert great. You add in a competitive fire and you find a steal.

I'll be honest, I have some doubts about Thor. His reactions look a bit slow to me. I know he's a measurements darling, but I'm not sure how much of that athleticism will translate to production. I don't think he's in the same tier as Kai Jones, and I don't think he's the same level prospect as Roko Prkacin. I personally don't see him being a markedly better prospect than Greg Brown at the moment, unless you really believe his shooting will develop. You could also take Moses Wright in the 2nd round and fill nearly the same role without waiting a year or two for him to develop.

I see the upside obviously, but to me he's risky enough that he really should go in the early 2nd round like Nic Claxton did a couple years ago.

If the Jazz want another high-risk/high-reward play, Brandon Boston might be more compelling, since he could be a 3-level scorer as well as a wing defender.
I really like Boston. I think he’s a mega sleeper in this draft. We draft him right now and he’s an obvious upgrade over Niang. Potentially a replacement for Bogey.

Hey guys!! That Sene guy was a bust, he was a long athletic beast just like Thor, so he must be a bust too so let’s go with that 25 year old short white super senior from BYU Idaho he’ll never bust!!

you sound so ridiculous sometimes.
