I'm not too opposed to Bledsoe, but it doesn't excite me that much. I need to find a 3rd team for him...

That's why we would get the assets though... if there was another option that is better NO just does that. The deal assumes Bledsoe's value is really low.

He might play well enough that his value improves and you can flip him at the deadline if something came up (maybe someone regrets their offseason spending and wants to get out of the contract).

I wonder if we could do what you're saying and flip Bledsoe to Houston for Eric Gordon and some sort of asset. They make the same next season, and Eric has one more year at Bojan type money.

I would go for:

Bojan, Gasol and #22 to NOLA
Bledsoe and #30 to the Lakers
Kuzma and #10 to Utah

Win, win, win

That might be a better version if LA goes for it... they might be looking for a better shooter than Bledsoe... not like Kuzma has a ton of trade value right now either.

And with Bledsoe it may be that he is slower and a little washed. He will still be playable and solid for 20+ minutes a night. He might also have a revival and be motivated (its essentially a contract year). We have seen it happen with a few players this year. NO is like the worst situation for a player like Bledsoe.

Worst case you picked up useable players and a couple prospects. IF everything falls apart you now have some cap maneuverability with Joe's deal expiring and having cleared both JC and Favs deals... since Bledsoe is essentially expiring. You could open up some cap space if you found a taker for Bojan or Mike's deal.

You also have more young assets to use as part of a trade to potentially get a legit third stud or at least upgrade over someone. Like, let’s say Kawhi gets frustrated as **** and wants out mid-2021. We throw those two young players you mentioned, whoever the **** we want, and two future 1sts for Kawhi. That’s not probably realistic and I think he expires but you get the point. We’d actually have assets to flip for once. Quin would just have to play those young guys this year in more than garbage minutes so as not to decrease their value. And yeah, that wouldn’t be enough for Kawhi. But the point still stands.

The only issue here is that New Orleans might rather have Kuzma than Bojan or JC.

NO would also have a compelling reason not to do the deal directly because Gordon was in NO and didn't like it there. They would not be up for a redo there.

I would not have thought Cleveland would do Exum and some seconds for JC. I also didn't think it would work out this well... that's kinda what I'm attempting to do here. I get that it doesn't likely make sense for NO... neither did getting Bledsoe or Adams last summer.

There's a difference between trading those levels of assets vs trading the #10 pick.

Financial implications of this deal:

Favors and JC combine to make $22 million. Eric Gordon is set to make $18.2. #24 makes a little more than #30, but not too much more.

Houston could waive Bledsoe before the 2022-23 season and save $16 million.

I don't think Favs wants to go back there... can likely entice OKC to enter the deal as I think Houston should get less and NOLA should give a little more.
