Jazz Offseason Plan

Fair point, but I’m also interested in that 15th pick. Feel like that’s a key part of the value here. I guess I’m looking for a bit of a hedge on the “all in now” strategy to bring in some legit talent to develop.
I think you will see some former first round picks hit the waiver wire shortly. You have a bunch of new coaches that will just want these guys gone and commence doing it with their own guys.

If we are smart, we don't have to blow it up because we lose Mike or Rudy. We should be prepared for a transition, not a tear down.

Donovan Mitchell could end up being the best player in the history of the franchise. Leveraging all our hopes to Mike and Rudy is shortsighted.

Donovan won’t even get his jersey retired let alone enter any conversation of being the best player in the history of the franchise. Donovan is leaving no matter what. Mikes price tag over 2 years probably doesn’t end up mattering much.

Alright, tell me where this breaks down. Go Jazz!
Heat trade a guy they might not even want to bring back at that price for a far better player at only $3.4 million more?

Heat not giving up enough and Jazz giving up too much. I understand the premium for a young, possible star in Siakam. But I don't see why the Jazz should lose two first rounders + Conley + the two better role players in the deal. If Dragic or Baynes were more than stop-gap options at this point, it would more attractive to me.

It wouldn't help the Jazz win more next year, I don't think (maybe you disagree), and it undercuts some of the future benefits for the Jazz by trading two first rounders.

In his two years with the Jazz he's played in eleven playoff games and missed seven. Five were missed because of injury and two because of the birth of his son.
You're right. I got my stats backwards.

We have won a better percentage of playoff games when he sits than when he plays.

$25 million for Conley just because we have no other choice is extremely unfortunate. Mike Conley could go down as one of the most overpaid players of all time.

If he got 2 years and $25 per year, he would creep up into the top 15 players of all time in terms of contracts over the course of their career! Crazy

Per BR, Ingles, Bogey, Royce and No. 30 all being shopped.

Andy Larsen retweeted this, so perhaps some truth here.

This makes me wonder. Was it opinions on Conley that ultimately did Dennis in? I don’t think Dennis thought we’d ever try to bring Conley back (which would kinda explain not crunching the numbers for luxury tax purposes).

Perhaps Dennis wanted to let Conley walk and not trade someone else. Now seems the idea is to trade some salary so we can pay Mike without dipping as far into the tax.

I never thought Smith would actually send the NBA a $60 million dollar tax check.

This article makes it sound like Ingles is more likely than Bogey or Royce to be traded, doesn't even mention Clarkson as being available.
