2021 Jazzfanz Current NBA Draft

His defense is legit. I just need him to bring energy of the bench, be pain in the *** of opposite guards and hit a 3 when open. He is young and getting better. He improved his 3 point percentage while doubling the attemps so I believe he would be ok in small role on a good team.
I like him a lot and considered taking him with one of my recent picks, but I decided to prioritize my PF and PG instead. Jonathan Isaac was a guy I considered taking two rounds ago. I was betting that he’d drop and was happy that he did. Couldn’t pass on PG again after Conley and Ball both went right ahead of me. I think I can get a better 2/3 option with my last pick than a backup PG.

I like his defense but I’m not sure what else he brings. He seems like the classic Jazzfanz “we love this guy let’s trade for him” and then we get him and he’s just not that good type of player.

10.1 PER, 51.1% TS%…<40% FG%. I LOVE the idea of him. I just question what he can really do.

I saw him as a bit of a trade target this offseason... when I looked at Thunder boards they effing love him... so I'm not sure that we would turn on him at all. He might get some of the hate that folks give Royce out here but he is a legit lockdown guy on the perimeter... so I doubt he'd even get that amount of "hate". He's a great guy to pair with high usage stars imo... so in this type of exercise its a great grab imo.

The days of Tony Allen are long gone. I’d worry that his (and Gobert’s) lack of floor spacing would be an issue. Maybe in small ball with Gay, he’d work however.

He shot 34% last year on 6+ attempts per game. Those are numbers Allen could only dream of. He's a good enough shooter and is showing progress there... still very young. Tony allen was sub 30% on like less than 1 attempt per game. Total non-shooter. Dort is trending more towards the Jae Crowder type shooter.... willing... will go 4/6 one night and be amazing... might go 0/6 the next night. He's fine on that end because the defense is so great.

Fair point. But in this contest, his awful offensive inefficiency is an issue IMO.

I believe it's completely opposite. I think he suits this contest well. You keep focusing on his overall offensive stats which are the result of his role on OKC team where he was 3rd leading scorer behind Gilgeous-Alexander and Horford (who played each around 30 games while he played 52). So he was often main offensive option on a crappy team. Of course that hurts his overall statistics. It's not like I imagine him to be as good as he was when he dropped 42 against us. But limit it to only taking open 3 on a team stacked with offensive stars and I believe he would do absolutely decent enough to be a plus giving how good he can be against even elite opposite guards.
