Report - Simmons Won't Report

Bogut has been peddling the 'he's a good kid with **** people around him' narrative. With good reason, people invested in basketball in this country want him to play for the national team. Im not buying it tho, he's done so many ****** things, look at the crap he pulled last world champs to not play but protect his endorsement from tourism Victoria.

He's clearly a dickhead, buying into his own BS. His management for one doesn't understand how to brand him, he could be making a fortune in endorsements in Australia but he needs to play at the Olympics to do that. Outside of the two major football codes the way to being a household name/brand as an athlete is in the green and gold. What he's been doing by holding out actually hurts his marketing narrative in this country. People look at him as another athlete who went overseas made too much money and became a dickhead. (Seems to me to be and accurate assessment)

Funny thing is if Josh Giddey (says all the right things about winning, playing at the Olympics etc.) turns out to be half the player Simmons is, the cash will roll in for him. Tourism deals, ads for all manner of crap, kid will make a fortune.

Welp, the whole saga has gone down the route of mental wellness. This is almost definitely true in Ben’s case. But I can’t help but feel as though he (and his team) are raising this as a false flag.

Yeah that is such a tough thing to get a handle on. I mean is it just embarrassment causing stress, which is entirely normal and something most "normal" people experience, or is it truly an issue of his mental health that requires diagnosis and treatment beyond a few hydroxizine and some meditation or something. I am glad we can accept that mental health issues are real and not immediately put anyone down for it, we are making progress that way I think, albeit slowly. But I also think we are seeing the pendulum starting to slip too far the other way and making every uncomfortable situation out to be a "mental health crisis". I mean, it might be, but it is just so personal and nebulous it is nearly impossible to say one way or the other, especially for casual observers.

I am going down the road that he is a douche and they are throwing this up as a smoke-screen. But that's just me.

Sad state of affairs, Liz cambage used mental health as a justification for her abuse of the Nigerian women's team, that had her kicked off the Olympic squad. Every bent politician uses it.

I love it when the powerful and wealthy site mental health issues to dodge responsibility. Simultaneously mental health services for poor people are in crisis and its a massive cause of homelessness and other massive social problems.

Yeah, there’s virtually a 0% chance that Ben is a good champion for this/these cause(s). I’d wager he pushes back against the development of good understanding as far as this stuff is concerned.

What you dont think he's going to take 3 months off and go to a facility to get help? My guess is he still gets paid while sitting with a mental health problem.

Yeah of course he is getting paid. That is the nature of the obscenity of wealth in the NBA.

Im guessing its all the work of clutch sports. He was an idiot to sign with them to begin with. Everything they've advised him to do this off-season has hurt his stock in the league.

His own melt-down in the playoffs literally costing his team the win didn't help either. But their damage control after that has been absolute crap.

Aside from showing up at Wimbledon with some instagram tart and refusing to go to the Olympics. He worked out with the same shot guru he works with every off season (not kidding) and posted social media videos of himself without a shirt on making 3s which he also does every year. Kid must be stone stupid.

I wish I was that stupid. I would retire and never work again.

"Perhaps a trade to Minnesota would fortify both teams. These Sixers could acquire De'Angelo Russell, a person who throws the ball through the net with greater consistency than Benjamin Simmons. Russell has had teammate issues in the past, telling fiancés of cases of indiscretions with young maidens. Indicative of consumption? I know not. But that issue appears resolved. Benjamin can play defense, so he may be of utility in Minnesota."

100 % other than the fact he was always an enormous dickhead well before he headed overseas
