Wow..I threw up. I can't imagine the adults in charge allowing this to happen. How did this happen? Did the adults not stop the teasing? If it was severe then they should have done something..anything..or did they dismiss it? I know autism is a difficult condition that other kids are never mature in handling. Geez so heart wrenching. How do you handle racism in teasing? Rights are not being denied but kids are laughing..do the adults not see that? I wonder if the adults just make a generic statement to their kids..treat others fairly but then crack a joke about someone of the other race? Maybe they are just blind about the disconnect.
You know what..this is similar to what we see on this forum.. proclaim loudly against racism but every now and then we crack a subtle racialistic joke with racial undertones...
But on the other hand, the herd thinking of little kids..they like to harp on differences. I can see where it is not taught to be hurtful but I can see an adult not stopping it. At the bare minimum it should have been loudly and forcibly confronted by a responsible adult.
