Ideal Rotation for the next two years?

Evans should be getting his minutes at SF, not PF. He should be Hayward's back-up at the 3

What? I thought Hayward was playing the 2?
We all have our ideas of what "should" and could happen, but I think we will just have to wait and see what Corbin decides to do, and then complain about it.

I like Evans and I think he could become a rotation player permanently. But I don't think you plan for it. He would just be a pleasant surprise.

On the Burks topic, he is scorer first and last. He is used to have the ball and making plays. It is going to be a big adjustment for him to play without the ball most of the time. He might in the long term thrive as a 6th man scorer.

Under the rotation described above our primary scoring option would change night to night based on who was hot and what the matchups are.

On Harris I don't hate him but in 2 years he will be 31. For our young players prime years he will 31-35. He can be a transistional player be we are going to need a young point guard at some point. On the other hand Millsap and Al Jefferson are 2 years younger and would be 29 in a couple of years.

The flipside of all this is we don't have to trade players to stay under the luxury tax. We could just remain a very deep team with Harris, Burks, Hayward, Millsap, Kanter, Jefferson and Favors + whoever we draft in the lottery next season.

I think that it would be cool to see him become a rotational player. He is a crowd pleaser and I think it would be awesome to see him get some more minutes. I think however that as soon as his contract is up he will be shipped out. I think that the Jazz see him as a filler player with nothing long term.

This actually concerns me a little. I keep seeing this kind of thing mentioned when discussing Burks. How much does he need the ball in his hands to be successful or effective? Everything I have heard is that he could do spot minutes at point, but that is not his strong suit. So is he going to be Maggette, capable when it is going his way, crap when he is pissed he doesn't touch the ball as much as he wants? We also already had a wing break down over not getting the ball enough. We don't need another one. He needs to be able to play within the team concept, as I highly doubt he is good enough to carry the team on his own ala Kobe or Wade, who both also really need the ball in their hands to do amazing things.

I've wondered about his ability to move without the ball as well, so it was one of the things I decided to pay attention to at the charity game, and I have to say, I was pretty pleased. Watch the video I've attached. There are plenty of instances when he scores by cutting to the basket, then gets dished the ball for an easy dunk or layup; not all of his points came from him going iso and etc. He seems to have a great understanding of what the defense is doing, and how to get open for some easy points. Yes, this was just one game, and an all-star type game at that, but it still gave me reason to be optimistic about his ability to do things without the ball in his hands.

Don't really know what PG we can get that is better than Harris right now. I'd still rather hold on to Jefferson and trade Millsap.

If KOC can turn Millsap + Harris into a future franchise PG I'd be very happy to call him the best GM in the NBA.

Make it happen!!

Damn depressing. All upside is maybe's. ??

If, If, If, rather than proven quantities ..

Nevermind, back to the Kool-Aid.

I ran out of the Kool-Aid a while back...so I've had to continuously piss it out and drink that. It gets healthier every time :D

If we didnt trade Deron, we wouldnt even have any ifs right now

I want Ty Lawson as our PG of the future. If not, maybe we draft one.

For the time being, I'm still hopeful a healthy Devin Harris will be good to real good now that he'll have a full season with the Jazz. The key is he's on the same page with Corbin as far as what needs to get done in the offense.

Harris, Hayward, Miles, Millsap, Jefferson to start the season - with Favors playing 25+ minutes per night at the 4 or 5. Burks, Kanter should start off at no less than 15 min per night in back up roles. Everyone else is secondary.
