Cap has nothing to do with it.
Jazz are over the cap and will be close to the tax threshold even without Boozer and Korver. As long as Brewer comes in as a backup, I'm ok with that. Matthews will start and get 30 mins. Brewer gets around 15/per. With Boozer not returning, AK will need to play 15-20 mins at PF. That means we need another wing. I'd rather have Brewer than Jeffers. And Korver, IMO, lost some value last season. FT precentage really dropped and when we needed him most, he was hesitant to put up 3's, protecting his record.

I think Brewer compliments Matthews in the starting lineup perfectly right now. He's long, can defend, and is a great slasher. I'm predicting our lineup looks like this next season:

PG Deron, Price, Gaines
SG Matthews, CJ
SF Brewer, Hayward, Jeffers
PF Millsap, AK, Augustine
C Fess, Memo, Koufos

There's some serious potential to be better there.

Holy hell, where's the damn shooting?!

Jazz don't need Korver and shouldn't want him after drafting little The Deacon. You re-sign Wesley and you have 4 wings under contract that deserve to be in the rotation. Waste of resources for a team that whether anyone knows it or not is - for all intents and purposes - rebuilding now.

Korver's ideal role is joining a contender that could really use his floor-stretching.

There's some serious potential to hit the lottery with that starting lineup. Opposing defenses will play 5-on-3, maybe even 5-on-2 on some nights when Mathews cant get going. Must be fun for Sloan and Deron.

I would be glad to see the Jazz pick up a lottery pick in 2011. We're in mini-rebuild mode now. As long as we can build a contending team by Deron's final contract year I will be happy. If he bolts, Jazz are finished for a long, long time.

Brewer won't be a starter. Matthews beat him out at SG and I think AK will start at SF and slide over to the 4 when Millsap sits down.
