Trade for Ben Simmons

You know Lopo is just being a difficult douchebag when he acts like Harris is untradeable when this man has made over 1000 terrible trade ideas in the trade machine.
Lol. If you could ever stay on topic and stop changing the conversation....

Everybody is tradeable. Sometimes you get extra value and sometimes you have to give extra value. Nobody wants Tobias without extra compensation.

Stay on topic

Danny Ainge is about to make his second great trade with Philadelphia.

I think people are increasingly seeing Simmons the same way they saw Exum; the less one sees them play, the more one’s dreams or imaginations influence their own perception.

The fact of the matter is Ben Simmons is a built-in Achilles heal in the playoffs. He’s one of the most immature, arrogant, un-repentant, self-unaware dickhead players I have seen in my lifetime. Lastly, him and Gobert on the same team multiplies how vulnerable the team is to scouting.

Unless, simultaneously:
-he is the only non-spacer on the floor
-he is the center of the universe of the offense
-he is not expected to bring any positive leadership attributes and subsequently
-the actual leadership of the team comes from elsewhere (that are somehow simultaneously high-level off-ball shooters that can help run the offense when Simmons rests)

Then it won’t work out. WHY IN THE **** DO YOU THINK THE SIXERS GAVE UP? They know better than anyone how problematic he is and how difficult it is to build a champion around him.

I agree that Simmons is a strange solution to this team's current problems: lack of confidence and mental toughness.

Either way, unless we trade Mitchell we are out of consideration anyways based on the 76ers reported asking price.

Elite defense, elite passing, can do everything on the court besides shoot.

He's been great in the playoffs contrary to popular opinion. He had a bad Hawks series. He obviously doesnt do well with intense criticism, but tbh a lot if it is underserved. Simmons had an On/Off playoff rating last year of 19.5. That's insane.

People want him to be something he isnt. Just let the dude play his game. He might be a selfish/dickish person (i have no idea, dont follow him that way), but he's a great passer and team player. He's has been very successful on Philly teams with very limited spacing, so I really dont get the hoopla about him and Gobert not working. It's not hard to put 3 shooters around that duo.

I agree with you. As a basketball player, I'm not scared about Simmons' fit. If we could get him to play with Don and Rudy, I think it's a no brainer. As long as his head is right enough to back to work, I think you always have to add one of the top 3 defenders in the league when you get the chance.

So he can do everything except, you know, the main basketball thing.

He is tall and an elite passer. It works out. The main reason it didn't work out as well with the Philly is because Embiid while a tremendous player requires prolonged possessions where he posts up and requires high usage.

Rudy is constantly on the move so Simmons' lack of shooting would be less of an issue for us.

Until they iso him and challenge him to score. That is what the Bucks did. He has a fatal flaw, and it isn't even his shooting. It is his utter terror in the face of being forced to shoot. In the playoffs last year he had a dunk in front of him...A DUNK, and he shied away and passed it out and caused a turnover instead of going for the dunk. That is broken. That must be fixed or he will always be a lot of hype with no substance. And no way that helps us especially if we have to give up Mitchell to get it.

It's really hard to force isos and with Gobert's activity level, he can set up multiple picks to free Simmons. In this hypothetical we keep Mitchell so he can run hand-offs and work as a screener so he either gets a favourable match-up against a small or gives it to Mitchell with a small advantage.

He is seriously flawed as a player. No one is denying that but I think the Jazz work around his weaknesses better than Philly. And the Jazz never had another defender anywhere near the level of Gobert. Imagine the defense. It would be otherworldly.

I’d love to run a starting/closing lineup of:

Donovan
Ingles
Bojan
Simmons
Gobert

Simmons and gobert could absolutely not play together. Just the worst idea I’ve ever heard. We don’t need the player he is now and it’s very clear he is never going to develop into something more.

Yet when this horrid Benjamin Simmons throws the ball at the cylindrical goal, whether from afar or near, it does not go in with a frequency that presupposes sound judgment. We must not exchange our draft picks and players for this mental monstrosity.
