I knew companies were pulling out of Russia but this kind of surprised me with McDonald's on the mix. 850 stores is decidedly not chump change. Wow.

That's a full 2% of global stores. Might not sound like much unless you understand the impact that can have on a business, not just in the bottom line, but in stock price.

The real statement there is that they will continue to pay the workers.

Reports are that this represents 9% of their total revenue. To give up the revenue and continue to incur the cost of labor, and presumably real estate, is nothing to sneeze at.

I didn't see if anyone else posted this but here is a running list of companies that have cut off business in one way or another in Russia as a result of their aggression in Ukraine. The few that stand out to me are McDonald's (see above post) and Visa and Mastercard. Imagine the impact if suddenly every card with a visa or mastercard logo stopped working. Not sure their "ceased operations in Russia" means they turned cards off, but that would be a hell of a statement. Could be worse for ordinary citizens though, but is that kind of thing enough to prompt any kind of action by the citizenry? The big question is, would any kind of action by the citizens do anything besides results in dead citizens. Damn this situation is bleak.

Hopefully these are the kinds of things that will start to pull Russian's away from believing Russian state media and asking why all of this is happening. Of course many of them know because they access non-state media sources but the Russian version of the boomer watches a lot of TV news and thinks all this other info is just a bunch of MSM fake news while they happily sniff Putin's farts.

It is a solution for the future that was stopped because Biden stopped it. Things generally aren’t fixed in a day, but if you don’t allow them to progress, they don’t get fixed at all. But yes, the pipeline stopped because of Biden. And like I said, it wouldn’t have changed what we have now, but it would in the future. Now if they decide to start it up again, it’s just that much delayed. So I’ll ask you, why buy all that oil from Russia, when you can get it from your close neighbor who isn’t a tyrant? Why risk your oil prices on what we all know is an enemy of the state when you don’t have to? Until we get support for nuclear energy, we still need fossil fuels. Ignoring that and relying on tyrants comes at your own peril, and Biden has done nothing to help that.

One brow said that the oil that we would be getting from keystone, we are already getting through other methods. So if the keystone was completed and up and running it wouldn't make any difference whatsoever maybe?

The leases have already be gotten. No need to spend money to get leases you already have. The leases simply aren't being used.
Also, I reckon that what is happening in ukraine has maybe changed this administrations thoughts on supporting home grown oil. Everything I have seen from biden/psaki is saying drill baby drill!
