Donovan Mitchell Trade Threads

If there’s absolutely any way to trade Donovan for Tyrese Halliburton then the Jazz should pull the trigger. This works whether the Jazz rebuild or retool.

If I were gm and Gobert came out and said he didn’t want to play with Mitchell anymore, I’d trade Mitchell the first opportunity I had.

1. He would bring more in trade.

2. I think it would be easier to replace what Mitchell does and I don’t think you need to replace him with just one player.

3. IMO we’d have more assets to make other trades to have a easier rebuild process.

But also…

You could nuke this build altogether; trade Gobert, Mike, Bojan, Quin, and Clarkson.

Unless we get someone like Jaylen Brown in return... IMO we should be looking to trade both. First, because I don't think we can wait on rookies to be ready to play if we are aiming at Gobert timeline and second, I want to see Gobert on a team that will appreciate what he does for them and will give him a legit chance to contend.

Ideal trades would be something centered on Donovan for Jaylen Brown, then something centered on Mike for Lonzo Ball. Neither of those deals would happen, but it’d be good.

Gobert is a defensive unicorn type, you don’t find guys like him all the time. I like the idea of building a team around a generational defensive talent
It can be tricky in its own right. You need to put athletic two way players around him, and its hard to find just one guy who can shoot defend and athletic.

I’ve said it before, my best-case scenario for a Mitchell trade is Dame. Jazz are essentially getting the more mature, clutch, Utah-loving version of Donovan who also happens to be taller and a better passer, and fits that timeline perfectly. Only real concern is how many years he wants on his extension.

LaVine is another interesting option depending on how the Bulls finish out. If they decide they don’t want to pay him his next max contract a swap of Mitchell and LaVine makes some sense for both teams. LaVine works next to Conley and Mitchell works next to Ball and DeRozan. LaVinr would have to agree as a sign and trade and the Jazz would need to send some other players out as they’d be hard-capped.
