Yet another Q rumor

I do think Doc is a better coach than Quin - but both aren't anything special. Doc at least has had playoff success, even if his teams have choked a ton (boy that sounds familiar) but I also think his ceiling is much higher than Quin's, so, the way I look at it is if the Jazz replace Quin with Doc, at worst nothing changes but at best ... they maybe actually do something in the playoffs.

Ideally, I'd go for Terry Stotts or even Alex Jensen.

Or go balls to the wall crazy and bring Mike D'Antoni out of retirement lmao even tho he's 70.
 
Rumor has it that Darryl Morley is looking to reunite with D’Antoni should Doc fail to win a Championship.

Remember folks, no way that Rivers is in this spot except for the court of popular opinion in Philly where he’s being tarred and feathered for the Simmons fiasco.

And…..given the choice between Rivers and Snyder, pretty sure Lakers front office rolls with Rivers.

I agree that the Lakers would likely go after Rivers since he's at least had significant success in the past, even if it was with Boston.

The interesting thing to me is how set the NBA is on retread hires. It's what actually made Quin's hire refreshing, even if I am disappointed with how things are turning out.

But the NBA, and pro sports in general, is fantastic at cycling through the same coaches year over year.

Nate McMillan: Fired by Portland, hired by Indiana, fired by Indiana, hired by Atlanta.

Billy Donovan: Essentially fired by Oklahoma City, hired by Chicago.

J. B. Bickerstaff: Fired by Memphis, hired by Cleveland.

Jason Kidd: Fired by Milwaukee (after being sent there from Brooklyn), hired by Dallas.

Mike Malone: Fired by Sacramento, hired by Denver.

Dwane Casey: Fired by Toronto, hired by Detroit.

Rick Carlisle: Fired by Detroit, hired by Indiana, fired by Indiana, hired by Dallas, now coaching Indiana.

Tyronn Lue: Fired by Cleveland, hired by the Clippers.

Frank Vogel: Fired by Indiana (holy **** Pacers get it together), hired by Orlando, fired by Orlando, hired by the Lakers (likely fired by the Lakers).

Mike Budenholzer: Fired by Atlanta, hired by Milwaukee.

Tom Thibodeau: Fired by Chicago, hired by Minnesota, fired by Minnesota, hired by New York.

Doc Rivers: Not really fired by Boston, just sent to the Clippers, who didn't fire him but certainly he was on his way out, now likely fired by Philadelphia.

Monty Williams: Fired by New Orleans, hired by Phoenix.

Alvin Gentry: Fired by Detroit, hired by the Clippers, fired by the Clippers, hired by Phoenix, fired by Phoenix, hired by New Orleans, fired by New Orleans - and now the current head coach of the Kings.

That's nearly half the league whose current head coaches were fired from a previous coaching job. That's crazy.

So, Terry Stotts absolutely would make sense.
 
I listened to Tony Jones on Checketts show...he said he's spoken to many people in the organization and they're very happy with Quin, they want him back next season and are definitely not firing him. He said that if Quin leaves then it's because he wants to leave and he asks out of his contract. He also said he thinks Quin will give Rudy Gay minutes in the playoffs, and that the Royce/House situation will be fascinating to watch because House has been so good and if the Jazz get Dallas in the 1st round, they're probably going to want to have House on Luka as much as possible.

Excellent point and at least as informative as the show WINNING TIME has been for me (Jerry West the coach, Pat Riley the color commentator to Hearn and Ron Boone the Laker that locked horns with Magic - just for starters). But yeah, so right! And Snyder hasn’t been all bad either. Definitely a smart guy that reinvented his brand here and probably had a lot to do with getting some of this talent to Utah! I wish him all the best, but like a bad marriage I feel it’s time for a change. And yeah I’d be fine with Stotts or even Jensen for that matter.

Dayam man I’ve been singing his praises for forever! No current coach has done more with less than he did with the post-Boston massacre Nets!
 
If Quin were to be gone, i actually would be fairly ok if they hired Vogel (considering they wouldn't go with any of our assistants).

And it doesn't looks like Doc is the best guy to help locker room chemistry rn (all the mediocre coaching aside)

Yeah wouldn’t that be interesting- if we ended up in a swap! He’s a championship coach now and I guarantee that our players are eminently more coachable than the LBJ Lakers!
