Saw some GSW trades for Rudy and it actually makes a lot of sense. They never occurred to me as a trade partner.

Wiseman, Kuminga and Moody are nice pieces.

I hate the idea of trading Rudy to the Warriors because I know how good it would make them, if we do trade him, I would much rather trade him to an eastern conference team. You're absolutely right though, it would actually make a lot of sense because they do have some very nice young pieces.

Probably gifting them a 2nd dynasty, lol.

If it gets to that point... I think you leverage the GS offer against Atlanta (cuz lets be honest the Jazz don't have the stones to trade Donovan and Donovan ain't gonna ask out in a direct way).

I originally thought you could likely only get Capela, Collins, and their pick this year, but that GS offer could lead them to throw in Huerter too... maybe you dump Gay on them as well.

I wanted Huerter so bad in the draft four years ago. I'm definitely still against trading Rudy, but I have to admit, the packages from both Atlanta and GS could be intriguing.

Ok but what assets
Conley, Bogey, JC, O'neal, picks they collectively have value. Maybe a team liked J Butler in the draft, The GS trade, none of those players have proven themselves and it would be total rebuild which DM wants no part of. Oh I didn't see Wiggins. Not a big fan but he is ok. People are basing their opinions on one or two articles even when DM and Gobert have denied them. Teammates do not have to be buddies to win championships. If we trade away Gobert we need some young proven players and not guys with potential.

A few? And what, you expect someone with as meticulously crafted a public image as Donovan’s to say, “yeah, I dislike Rudy, our fan base, and the market here so I’m basically biding my time. I for sure have a foot out the door while I’m dangling the keys to the franchise above everybody’s heads.”?

It’s been a growing chorus. Furthermore, blowing it up is exactly what most people would prefer if one got traded.

Lastly, what does:
-a 36-year old PG that’s one of the shortest in the league and been showing serious signs of wear for years,
-a 33 year-old that’s good but on an expiring contract,
-an atrociously inefficient volume scorer,
-a 6’ 6” (in shoes) defensive “stopper” except against guards or screens,
-few (to no) tradable picks that don’t cripple you in the inevitable rebuild

get you that makes you better today and doesn’t destroy the future? You could probably flip some of those players for (late) 1sts from a desperate team (or at least multiple 2nds), but a desperate team isn’t sacrificing better players than what they’re getting back.

We don’t have a lot of picks… those guys are high level prospects who have done a lot more to establish value.

It’s tough to spin straw into gold.
