I too would love Howard to NJ with the Lakers getting weaker in the process. Where does Paul go at that point though? NY has no money now with the Chandler signing and the Lakers can't afford him as a free agent. I'm bedside myself with grief for him though.

Beside yourself with grief? Why? He gets paid regardless. To win a title is not a guarantee and that's just the way it is no matter how great you may be.
 
My view on it:

Stern is a hard cut bargainer, he loves it. He felt that Paul had diminished his trade value by speaking about who he wanted to be with, and believed the Lakers could lowball as a result. He thought he could get a better deal, and had every right to veto. Cheap move? Yes. Was it a cheap move by Paul to speak up like that and diminish NO trade value? Also yes.

The one thing that makes me laugh the most is hearing Lakers fans complain that the NBA is rigged. REALLY?! Laker fans complaining the NBA is rigged. Think about that.
 
toccoto, I remember the year the Fakers beat the Kings in the playoffs a few years ago, where Robert Horry picked up a loose ball and hit a buzzer-beating 3. The reason the ball was loose was with time running down on the game clock Bryant took the ball, lowered his shoulder and CLEARLY charged into a defender, but no whistle. Bryant had NO INTENTION of putting up a shot, as he never looked up. Upon contact the ball rolled away... That play to me has always defined 'super-star treatment'...

Maybe Stern is a stern bargainer, and he probably enjoys the game (of negotiation).

But to paraphrase John Kerry, David Stern approved the trade before he rejected it.

It was Gilbert (and may other owners) who nixed this trade; seems like Stern was merely the mouthpiece. What will be ironic is if the Lakers turn out better because it was denied.

If L.A. lands Superman (or even another legit big better than Odom), then they will be.
 
No matter what goes down, I have the disgusting feeling that the Lackers will come out on top. God I hate the ****ing Lackers.

I'm not saying it wasn't a foolish choice. I'm just saying that: It was a foolish choice. To be perfectly blunt, out of any commissioner, I would want David Stern running my league. I know I'm in the minority in that, and that's fine. I'm just one of the few people who thinks, while his choices sometimes are completely unfair (like this) the dude has a clear vision on what is needed to make a league successful.

Uhh I haven't seen the clip in awhile but I am pretty sure he got the shot off and Vlade swatted the rebound back to a wide open Horry.

Correct. The crime in officiating took place in the 30 minutes of play prior to that shot, as well as later in Game 6. Horry's shot itself was simply the Kings inability to come up with the biggest rebound of the game.
