You don’t think Draymond and Bam are rim protectors? They guard on the perimeter too but they definitely are rim protectors.

30 a game against Dallas… and their other 5 isn’t a stretch guy. There are really two stretch 5s left… Grant kinda plays some stretch 5 but is more of a 4… so your premise that rim protecting bigs that don’t stretch the floor aren’t playing a major factor is not correct. None of these teams are playing 5 out all night when healthy. It’s a 20/25 minute a night strategy if you have the right guy… there aren’t many Maxi Kleber types out there.
Agreed, so if you trade Rudy, Don must go too. No way we can build a contender around Fon. Just don’t see it without a ton of luckThe problem is Rudy may not bring back the haul that some people think he will.
I think most of the trades people have discussed here are way too far discounted. I mean, just look at the last few times an all star was traded who had 1 o 2 years left on their contracts. 3 years just doesn't happen.
Eg. in recent memory consider the Paul George and Anthony Davis trades. Perennial All Stars for a team starting over.
Paul George ---- Shai Gilg, Gallinari, 3 unprotected 1sts, 1 protected 1st, and 2 1st round pick swaps.
Anthony Davis ---- Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, 3 1st round picks, a future 1st round pick swap, and cash
I know, I know. Donovan isn't Paul George or Anthony Davis. Gobert is the best remaining dinosaur of a past era. But neither are an aging, overweight, underperforming James Harden or disgruntled, mentally challenged Simmons. Hoping for a starter or 2 + 1 first round pick from the Kings from a meh draft is poor by anyone's standards.
Two mid 1sts in a draft strong in that area plus another young prospect and a likely-undervalued Hayward is pretty good. The packages aren't going to get better with time.I agree. Rudy is no slouch. Trading him for a mid pick and some expiring ******** just doesn’t fly. I think we can honestly get a decent return on Rudy, Don, Clarkson, and Bogie.

The contract is part of the issue at his age. Also the fit is an issue... AD even though he is a big would fit any roster. PG literally could start for any team in any lineup. He's like the perfect 2nd star for literally any superstar. Two mid 1sts in a draft strong in that area plus another young prospect and a likely-undervalued Hayward is pretty good.
