2022 NBA Draft Thread: We Going to Have a Pick! (lmao jk)

The argument for Sochan, I think, is that he projects to be functionally similar to Al Horford. He can play at the 4 or the 5, he's a switchable defender, he can move the ball, and he can knock down enough of his shots to spread the floor. Then he brings toughness and some intangibles in general. So he could be an elite complementary player. I just can't see a scenario where he's in the top 5 - 7 guys. I think he's a candidate to get picked in the 10-16 range. He's not such an overwhelming talent that team needs won't factor into the decision to draft him.
Not at all.

Sochan is simply one of the most complete players in the draft and one of the youngest.

There's no weakness in his game right now outside of ranged off the dribble jump shots. I just have a feeling he's going to put it all together and be a near all star caliber player.

It would be complete lunacy to me I'd the Blazers passed on Sochan (if they keep the pick). It's near impossible he falls past the Spurs.

The Kings would be smart to draft him as well, but I would understand passing on him for the Big 4 upside players

Does anyone else think we could draft Ivey and he could give us 20 PPG a night in Donovan’s role?

I do. If Sacto offered the Jazz #4 and a future pick, I'd take it and reset the timeline around a young All Star-caliber player on rookie-scale.

I'd just also be tempted to try to get up to #3 for Paolo.

Hell I think we could probably get Davion and #4.

Davion and Ivey backcourt with Gobert is a top-5 team in the West next year. Especially with how good defensively Davion is. Move Conley for a 3 and D type of wing and then we’re really talking.

Sacramento is an interesting team. Their front office was given a mandate to make the playoffs this coming year. That's going to be a tall order give the way the West is stacking up right now. Pick #4 is also where the draft supposedly breaks a bit, unless you see 4 guys in the top tier. Trading for Donovan would have to be seen as a home-run move for them under those limiting circumstances. They already traded out Haliburton for Sabonis because they are in a hurry to win.

They could send back Holmes and Barnes, #4 and a future pick with light protection.

He shot 47% as a big, including under 30% from 3pt and under 60% on FTs. He averaged 9p and 6r. He's possibly the best defender in this class, but to say he has no weaknesses seems a reach. He shot 36% on catch-and-shoot opportunities, so the hope is that part of his game will translate well enough to not hold him back too much.

Kuminga got tape from legit HS como and GLeague. Not the same **** as playing in a no competition HS division where your team let's you play every position and do w/e because your 10 levels above everyone else, no AAU, no legit foreign experience.
Played for Canada's younger national team and in the NHS, lol.

Like I said, only off the dribble ranged shots atm.

He shot 58% from the field on twos.

And he's not a big. He's a 4/3.

Sorry he isn't Vrenz Bleinbergh, the guy who was supposedly better than Porzingis in last year's draft but was complete *** on a bad Spanish ACB team

Dude, no one said Vrenz Bleijenberg was the next Porzingis. He was a potential 2nd-rd prospect last year who could play in Quin's system. Nice deflection tho.

Exactly. I legit have no idea why he would have Sochan anywhere near the top-5 lmao let alone top-4.

Ivey
Banchero
Chet
Jabari
Murray
Sharpe
Griffin
Mathurin
Duren

Those are all guys I would take before him and all guys that will be better than him. Sochan is closer to late lottery than top-5 lmao.

Every time I watched Baylor which was a lot I legit would not think Sochan was a lottery pick. He was bad in a lot of big time games particularly. That’s not great.

In what world is a dude who averaged 23.5 PPG on 55.4% from the field including 40% from 3 and 8.7 RPG considered a worse prospect than Jeremy ****ing Sochan. I’m legit laughing out loud let alone 10 spots in between them.

Yes, because college stats are always directly translatable. If college player X had better stats than college player Y, they are automatically better. That's how the draft works.

Don’t kid yourself of course stats aren’t the end all be all. Have you watched much of either this year?
