Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Celtics the favorite for Beal
The Beal opt out is a nothing burger... it was always going to happen... if anything he gets a raise on his opt out year. He will re-sign with the Wiz... its basically telegraphed already. If he want to go somewhere else he can get his money and they can trade him at the deadline. It also works better for the Celtics and others to get him this way since they can't accept a player in a sign and trade unless they are under the apron... which they aren't.

Same kinda thing will happen with Dame... he will agree to be a good soldier... get his extension and if things go south he will work with the team on a trade that benefits both parties. Its the Paul George Sam Presti model.

Atlanta would give up a few starters where as Chicago would be replacing Vucevic with Gobert and Williams is their main trade piece. They get exponentially better where as Atlanta gets better for sure but not nearly as much.

I think both teams have made legit offers for Gobert. I think Ainge is holding out, stoking the market, and asking for more. He'll strike when the moment is right. Let's see where we are in 24 hours.

I'm not sure Hunter is coming back in the trade, so either team is losing a couple of their projected starters. ATL has a much wider variety of assets to get the trade done in different ways. ATL also gets to keep the core structure of their team (Trae PnR) with a massive upgrade at the C position. When thinking about a Trae-Rudy combo, I don't think there's a pairing of star players who cover for each other's weaknesses as well.

ATL is also just a better team than CHI despite the difference in record. Much better point differential. They were the #2 offensive team in the league last year. With Trae and Rudy, I think they are firmly top 10 teams on both ends and potentially top 5 in both.

With a bunch of guys that have never shown they can perform in the playoffs...
Better than 130M of Vuc, Williams, Lavine, Demar, Ball... which is the alternative. Neither of those guys have shown they are better playoff players that Rudy.

They'd have like $130M committed to Gobert, Ball, DeRozan, and LaVine.

It’s actually closer to around 120M. You act like that is such a bad thing. They could do much worse for that amount of money.

Atlanta has almost the same amount committed to Trae/Bogdanovic/Huerter/Collins/Capela.

Which of those two teams would you rather have? Chicago and it’s not close.

The ATL group has shown they can win in the playoffs together, lol.

I think Chicago can make the biggest gains but agree both should be interested. I get the feeling from Lowe and others that Atlanta isn't as involved currently but things can change. Their view... right or wrong is that Capela gives us some of what Rudy does but at half the price so lets look to do something else. I keep hearing Trae and Clint are also close which probably matters to them as well.

I think the current sentiment... that its Chicago thats the favorite (if we trade him) is likely correct. I don't see an acceptable deal without Williams. I get why they want to keep him but to go from Vuc to Rudy on a team that has good defensive wings... and has deep playoff aspirations... they should go even further than Williams, Vuc, White, 18 if its necessary.

The Bulls would have...

Rudy Gobert: 4 yr/$170M (Turning 30, will make $44-46M at 33/34)
DeMar DeRozan: 2 yr/$56M (Going to be 33, known playoff choker)
Zach LaVine: 5 yr/$225M (Often injured hasn't shown anything in the playoffs)
Lonzo Ball: 3 yr/$60M (Often injured hasn't shown anything in the playoffs)

What could possibly go wrong???
