To me, Corbin will always feel like a consolation prize. It's really not his fault. When Sloan quit last year, in a desparate attempt to regain their image of stability, The Jazz FO quickly signed Corbin to a mulit year deal. In doing so, The Jazz franchise discarded possibly their greatest asset. And that is an organization with the reputation as a place where the inmates don't run the asylum.
The Jazz could have easily made Corbin interim and then waited to see what type of interest they could drum up in the HC position during the off-season. If they couldn't find anyone worthwhile, they could have then given Corbin his deal. By rushing through the process, Utah passed up a golden opportunity to bring in a proven winner.
