What's new

Gobert to Minnesota

Some quick contract notes:

Beasley - guaranteed this year at $15M, team option for next year otherwise a FA
Beverley - guaranteed this year at $13M, UFA next
Vanderbilt - guaranteed this year at $4M, only partial guarantee next year
Bolmaro - guaranteed this year at $2M, team option for next two years otherwise a FA
Kessler - nothing is signed, but would max out at four years on his rookie contract

We will have a ton of salary space next year with Rudy's $41M cap hit off the books (not to mention the $43M and $46M the following years). That's not even counting Bogey or any player options for Gay/JC.

My guess is we are massive players in 2023 free agency to truly make some waves.

AND we could still flip all of these guys for more 1st rounders. It's honestly a great deal so far.

This is a deal you give for any superstar. Too bad Jazz fans never really got to the idea that they have a superstar(even if unconventional) in Rudy.

No… I don’t think you understand the package we just got lol. We got a top-10 player in the league package.

Windhorst says that there is a possibility of a 3 way trade where Nets get Mitchell.

I think Windhorst just likes to spread rumors. Woj, Tony Jones and other reporters are saying the Jazz are going to re-tool around Donovan and have no plans to trade him.

I'd like to hold onto your response for later -

You're saying that Donovan Mitchell needed Rudy Gobert to score points?
If you go back, it sounded to me like he was saying DM will see how hard it is to score on Gobert when they play each other.

Not that I care about the argument, but now that you are both back in your corners and on the same page... start again... round 246.

He also doesn't grasp the concept that they literally can't trade for him unless they move Ben.

Yes. What in the world makes people think they can have multiple All-NBA and All star players in their prime for cheap(for young players that have proven NOTHING and some mediocre starter/salary filler)? When has that EVER happened? Indeed, the same applies to Donovan. If/when we decide to trade him, you better expect a similar haul if not better. Those players have value. And if you want them, you better be ready to pony up.

It’s because Jazz fans are used to winning….also used to not having lots of draft picks. After a long period of that you don’t appreciate the 50 win seasons and you’d rather watch Jared Butler play instead. It’s natural, I don’t blame people for feeling that way.

But let’s not kid ourselves about reality. Rudy has led the Jazz to the same amount of 50 win seasons and more playoff series victories than the entirety of the TWolves history. Winning matters, and when you make the playoffs for decades at a time with only brief breaks in between it’s easy to forget that.

TWolves don’t give a **** about a 2029 pick when they’re trying to win right here and now with KAT and Ant.

They could also just trade Simmons separately before this trade. That would not be a difficult thing for Brooklyn to do.
So they’d have to pull a Simmons deal off first to acquire Don. Would be selling off Durant/Ben to land Don
