Don’t forget John Drew and Freeman Williams!Wilkins was drafted by the Jazz and traded to Atlanta for cash.

Impressed by your memory (I hadn't realized Wilkins was as peripatetic as Wikipedia says he indeed was), but not really seeing why this Jazz signing reminds you of Wilkins's end of career wanderings.Reminds me of the time the Spurs signed this scrub from the Greek league for a year in the season Robinson was injured, by the name of Dominique Wilkins.
It struck me he is the Royce replacement. My friends at Best Buy are telling me that we shouldn't be so sure that DA is going to blow it up. Their reasoning is that DA and Ryan are getting more pi$$ed by the day at the Knicks. The rumor was that DM was going to be shipped first but Miami didn't have their ducks in a row quite yet. The Jazz FO was already POed about the stunt the Knicks brass pulled off in the playoffs. Now the Knicks are treating the Jazz like they have to trade him and DA and the owner are not having their tomfoolery. I wouldn't be surprised that DM and team currently on the roster are still here on opening night. It would be kind of depressing if Fontecchio ends up being really good that it makes us rethink if we blew it up too soon.
If Donny sticks around, I think he is still gone by the trade deadline. And if you aren't going to blow it up, they should have kept Rudy and used Donny, Royce, and either Bogey/JC to retool. If you had kept Rudy and traded Donny, Mike has plenty left in the tank to be a good facilitating PG, especially with Rudy. At this point, NOT blowing it up doesnt make sense. It struck me he is the Royce replacement. My friends at Best Buy are telling me that we shouldn't be so sure that DA is going to blow it up. It sounded like they felt Donovan was the problem and offered him to trade first. The deal didn't obviously consummate and suddenly the TWolves were on the phone. The pressure is off now as the Jazz are out of luxury tax territory and have some incoming assets. I know a lot has been written but the longer this plays out I doubt the trade gets made. The Knicks got caught jackpotting around and we will see if the trade, blow up and tank occurs. If Donny sticks around, I think he is still gone by the trade deadline. I'm not sure I want to ask this, but what are you trying to say here? Are you saying you're talking to people who directly know a bit about the Jazz's thinking? Or are you simply referring to the speculation of certain people with some interest in the Jazz?My friends at Best Buy are telling me ...
Can you connect the dots a little more here? What does the Miami situation have to do with the Knicks? Where is the idea that the Knicks are treating the Jazz like they have to trade him coming from? It certainly doesn't seem to be what the Knicks are operating like in public (post-playoffs at least). If the Jazz weren't interested in the Knicks offer, why would they even engage with the Knicks? The rumor was that DM was going to be shipped first but Miami didn't have their ducks in a row quite yet. I can't answer the last question. It seems that the Jazz were looking to move DM first, have talks with Miami and feel their offer is insufficient. Then the TWolves enter and a deal is made. Now it could very well be that DM and some other players are going to be included in tradeapalooza with several teams and a lot of players and picks moving. Right now I don't see an urgency from the Jazz to get this done right now.I'm not sure I want to ask this, but what are you trying to say here? I guess some of this could make some sense if the argument is that the Jazz didn't intend to trade Gobert and were originally interested in trading DM for the Herro package and retooling that way. But then the Gobert offer turned into an offer that couldn't be refused. Then the Herro package got put on hold because the Heat were actually more interested in Durant and were (and continue to treat) Mitchell as the fallback option. Is this basically what you're saying?
But even if this is the case, things still get murky. Why are the Knicks involved at all? Are the Jazz still operating on the idea that they want to trade DM no matter what? Otherwise, why would there be frustration with the Knicks negotiations? If the Knicks don't offer a sufficient package, just move on. Why all the leaks about being close to a deal?
I’m praying it’s not scorched earth as Danny was known for that and quick bounce backs during his CEO tenure in Boston. If it were me, I’d hang onto Clarkson, Beasley and Vanderbilt. It would be kind of depressing if Fontecchio ends up being really good that it makes us rethink if we blew it up too soon.
