What's new

Serious question: Why are people rooting for the Jazz to win this year?

Also, losing on purpose sure didn't hurt Cleveland before LeBron or San Antonio before Duncan.

Take a step back and think about it. We have a solid core: Favors, Kanter, Burks, and Hayward. There are a lot of good, solid players there, and maybe one or two future all stars if we get lucky. That's the problem. Favors may be a fantastic player, but he isn't a sure thing (although he looks very promising). Same can be said for the other three. Why not root for Utah to get a top 3 pick and GS's pick this year? It's a shortened season, they look awful, but young, and I don't know if this team has THAT guy; a Kobe, Durant, Rose, etc, who can put the team on his back and take them to a title. Why not suffer through 66 games, root for losses, BUT hope that one of the young four looks fantastic every night (continued improvement) and then have an excellent pick or two to get our wing All-Pro?

Then our whole starting five may very well be all top 10 draft picks. This team would be chocked full of talent, with pieces to trade (Jefferson), and cap room (Okur).

This is our most realistic way to win a title; one more year of bad basketball.

How dare you have perspective.

I completely disagree with you guys 100%. Yeah, losing sucks. The problem with winning this year, is it gets us stuck in the 4-6 range in the West, where we have been for the last forever years. This next draft is huge for talent. Also, wings win titles, especially with the new rules.

Also, I don't buy the losing crap. If the coaches are good, losing doesn't matter. Look at Dallas before Nowitzki. Look at Chicago before Rose. Look at Miami before Wade. Look at OKC before Durant. Bad players lose games. Young players lose games. Talent wins. We have some great potential, but I don't see a clear cut star to take us anywhere. Favors could be that person, but his rookie year is nothing like LeBron's, Wade's, Rose's, etc. Odds are, he isn't one of those guys. Why not get our superstar and only endure a short season?

Again, I don't buy winning mentality. There is a reason why Jefferson, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Stephon Marbury didn't win. And it is not because their teams didn't help them out. It is because no matter how good they thought they were, they couldn't cut it in a team game.

I am rooting for lots, and lots and lots of losses this year.

First of all, no way we finish in the 4-6 range this year. If we did, we would have the brightest future in the league. Unlike in years past, we have a TON of potential to grow as a team. We knew what we had in the Deron/AK/Boozer/Okur era. If we sneak into the playoffs as an 8th seed this year, I believe our guys would gain that much more confidence and would be ready to take that next step sooner. Not to mention they would gain confidence in Coach Corbin. It's all about building that winning culture.

San Antonio got lucky that Robinson missed the entire season right before the Duncan draft. As for Cleveland, well, I sure wouldn't wanna be in their shoes right now.

Look at the psychi of all those players because they losed early in their careers. The rest of their career they were trying to get the looser mentality out of thier heads. I want favors, hayward, kanter and burks to always beleive they are winners.

ouch .. is there an ointment for that, hopefully?

San Antonio was a special case were most of their roster was injuried.

Was Cleveland any good even if they tried that year? I looked it up.

Their best players were Ricky Davis, Big Z, Dajaun Wagner, Darius Miles and a young Carlos Boozer.

I don't think they had to try very hard to be terrible.

Their best players were

We got our *** kicked on the first preseason game and yet I enjoyed watching our young guys. Losing sucks, but I can deal with this type of losing if the young guys get their minutes.

If you ain't first, you're last. Enough said.

It's not so much winning or losing as it is playing competitive basketball. If The Jazz show up and compete most nights while progressing as a team from point A to point B, I could care less about W's or L's.

You're right.
The question is - can Ty Corbin build that system that can be fun to watch and you could care less about winning?
