What's new

Serious question: Why are people rooting for the Jazz to win this year?

The Jazz should play every game to tie, and every overtime to tie. Eventually , the other team will hit a lucky shot to win it after the 4th or 5th overtime. In the meantime, we can rest easy knowing that we will get a great pick, and our young guys have the ability to win more games if they really wanted to.

First of all, no way we finish in the 4-6 range this year. If we did, we would have the brightest future in the league. Unlike in years past, we have a TON of potential to grow as a team. We knew what we had in the Deron/AK/Boozer/Okur era. If we sneak into the playoffs as an 8th seed this year, I believe our guys would gain that much more confidence and would be ready to take that next step sooner. Not to mention they would gain confidence in Coach Corbin. It's all about building that winning culture.

You missed my point. Best case scenario for this year: 6-8 in the west, bounced early from playoffs. That means, with some development, we get stuck in the 4-6 range in the West until Favors, etc gets sick of it ala Deron and bolts. I don't buy that this team can lead us to the finals. There is not one player that has shown he can be better than a Durant, Howard, Kobe, LeBron, etc in a game 7 of the finals. Not having that wing killed us against Chicago, and will kill us until we get him.

Newsflash: Gordon ain't that guy. Let's say Favors is the next Howard. How many titles has Howard won?

San Antonio got lucky that Robinson missed the entire season right before the Duncan draft. As for Cleveland, well, I sure wouldn't wanna be in their shoes right now.

Not a good response. Why can't we get lucky that we suck in a short season? I would have LOVED to have a player like LeBron for six, seven? years. That's my whole point. Let's lose this year, so we can actually GET A LEBRON.

Look at the psychi of all those players because they losed early in their careers. The rest of their career they were trying to get the looser mentality out of thier heads. I want favors, hayward, kanter and burks to always beleive they are winners.

Yeah, and win a fourth seed in the West every year. Lose for one year, get an All-Pro, if one of those guys decides he likes to lose more than win, get rid of them. We have our Durant, Kobe, etc. The rest are just role players anyways.

Great post Green. You will be repped as many times it will let me. Most the people on Jazzfans don't have any foresight. And they don't understand what it takes to win a championship. You need big time talent. And you only get that through high draft picks.

Most jazz fans are just a bunch of suckers. If you tell them that you are all about championships they will believe it. Even if the moves only spell a mediocre team.

Also, I am always hearing " winning bread winning" well that would be nice if we could win. But these lousy vets aren't winners. So what's going to happen is the vets are going to teach the young guys how to lose. Isn't that dangerous? All the while missing important development minutes..

Thanks. It's the BYU mentality. Run around all spring, summer and fall saying you will win national titles and heisman trophies, and then fall on your face every year. The point is, you just aren't good enough. Get me some real talent. I'll take a bad season, especially in a SHORT season to get that talent.

Take a step back and think about it. We have a solid core: Favors, Kanter, Burks, and Hayward. There are a lot of good, solid players there, and maybe one or two future all stars if we get lucky. That's the problem. Favors may be a fantastic player, but he isn't a sure thing (although he looks very promising). Same can be said for the other three. Why not root for Utah to get a top 3 pick and GS's pick this year? It's a shortened season, they look awful, but young, and I don't know if this team has THAT guy; a Kobe, Durant, Rose, etc, who can put the team on his back and take them to a title. Why not suffer through 66 games, root for losses, BUT hope that one of the young four looks fantastic every night (continued improvement) and then have an excellent pick or two to get our wing All-Pro?

Then our whole starting five may very well be all top 10 draft picks. This team would be chocked full of talent, with pieces to trade (Jefferson), and cap room (Okur).

This is our most realistic way to win a title; one more year of bad basketball.

Do you know what they call people who constantly lose???? LOSERS.

The one thing about this organization is that they have tried to compete in a way that was the "right" way. We had some bad teams that were supposed to compete for the worst record of all time. That team came out and suprised a lot of people.

Intentionally losing is like winning through cheating. I am no saint but a win through cheating is a hollow win and I don't want it.

Let other teams do it. i would rather hold my head up and be proud of the young talent and stand up guys we have. Do you think Millsap or Hayward would be ok with intentionally losing?

Coming from a guy who mistakes an act of idolizing and faith for a battle ship.

I will always root for the Jazz to win. IMO, that's what fans are for. How would the guys feel if their "fans" all wanted them to lose? Certainly wouldn't help their play any.

I do, however, want the young guys to play enough to develop. That said, that development doesn't necessarily have to mean more losing. I would hope that these young players feel like they have something to prove - to the coaches, fans, everyone - and play like it. They can play hard, earn minutes, develop their game AND win some games along the way. Whether that means playoffs or not remains to be seen. Either way, it should be a fun (and challenging) process for both the fans and the team. They are set to make some noise when everything comes together though! Interesting time to be a Jazz fan.

Hey clown! Ya you fresh prince. You ever heard of auto correct. I use my phone to post. And it had a mind of its own.

Why are you so worried about if words are spelled correctly. Do you work for Microsoft word?
