Lock up Jeremy Evans right now

This dude is unreal. Loads of potential. Plays hard. Always contributes. I hate how the Jazz wait until the whole league knows the players value, and then they drive up the price. Can't we offer him something like 4 years, 12 million. Im sure he would jump on it. He will be a bargain for that price down the road.

Also, get him more minutes

Why does everyone insist that Evans is a PF then they want Milsap to play SF? Evans doesn't have the back to the basket game, and he is quick enough to guard SF, so other than height, how is he a 4? Does that make Durant a 4 too? Evans is a stud. Let him play and get rebounds, fastbreak points, and play good defense. He will continue to get better just like Milsap. Portland will try sign him when they have a chance and I hope that Utah can just keep him around. I agree, that we shouldn't give them the chance. Give him an extension now. That being said, he would be dumb to sign it. He needs to wait and let teams bid on him. His agent would be dumb not to wait. Hopefully we can get him a contract like Miles got a few years ago.

I don't think he would be dumb to sign a guarantee deal. Just don't make it a 4 year deal (2 years plus player option). So he gets some financial security and still can get out of the deal in his prime. Whatever, I want Evans to be on the active roster and get playing time. I just don't see how he does unless we move CJ and Bell.

Moving CJ and Bell would free up the money to pay Evans besides providing time for Hayward, Howard, Burks and Evans. In a pinch Harris can play SG and Tinsley can get minutes at PG. The Jazz could get a late 1st round pick or two seconds for CJ and Bell. Send Okur to the Clippers (need backup PF) for a pick and some scrub player. This would clear up playing time for Kanter, Millsap, Favor and even Evans.

A late 2nd round pick that averaged 9.4 MPG with 3.6 PTS and 2 RBS in his first year in the NBA would be stupid to sign a contract that would secure him and his familey financially for life? Wow, just wow...

His play has pretty much guaranteed that Portland will give him a loaded offer sheet after the season.

I agree they should lock him up. Did they learn anything from the Wes Matthews experiment? He would have jumped on a decent contract too, had it been offered. Only if Jeremy jumped, he'd hit his head on the ceiling. He's a freakish athlete and a great kid.

*ahem*

Did you guys watch the entire? Did you see his RIDICULOUS turnovers at the end?

I love Jeremy Evans but he still has a long way to go before he proves himself worthy of a multimillion dollar contract. He is still the 13th or 14th best player on this team.

Please don't be so ridiculous.

Let me make me this clear. I LOVE JEREMY EVANS. I was at the charity game and was 3 feet away from him. There was a mob of teenagers around him, one yelled out "I love you Jeremy!" and he said right back, "I love you too!" with a huge smile! And it was sincere. He's probably one of the nicest guys in the NBA (David Locke quoted Jerry Sloan on media day saying "He just makes everyone around him want to smile."

I would LOVE for Jeremy Evans to stay with the Jazz. I love that he and Hayward are best buds. I love watching Evans succeed. Last night he took my breath away with how much more confident he is. I think he's realized that he can jump over pretty much anyone in the NBA, and he showed a touch of viciousness. I got real excited when I saw that.

But lets come back down to earth. It was a preseason game. Corbin extended his minutes and he failed down the stretch (which is OK! He can learn from that!) But he is not really for a $10 million contract. The Jazz have to stop paying big money for loyalty!!!

Um, no. Just saying that I wish they'd held onto Matthews. Too early to tell just how good Evans will be, but I think he's worth extending to find out, so we don't risk losing him in similar fashion.

You sound like you almost talked yourself into it.

I guarantee that he will be a good player in this league for a longtime. It's not just his dunks. He does many things well like rebounding, blocking shots, and he has a smooth stroke. His shots will start falling.
It doesn't matter that he is skinny. Being skinny in the NBA is a good thing. He has tremendous tools to pretty damm good. He is a good guy and a hard worker.

But I don't know why I have to explain it. You can see it too, but you want to sound like a professional who is under control and doesn't make rash decisions. Being scared to take risks will only make you average. I guess you just have to have an eye for talent. It's called having foresite and being proactive. And it would be a good basketball decision. I don't wait for some talking head to tell me what I should think. And neither should the Jazz.

Ya Wilbon compared him to a young Shawn Kemp

And it starts..

The league is starting to get to know who he is

We should start a Jeremy Evans price ticker

Seriously, he's got to just start shooting the ball from like 8 feet out, and he will be infinitely more valuable than he is now. You've got to do more than one thing to keep the opposition off balance. Develop a jump hook, or anything, whatever.

Finally somebody realizes it ive been said wat type of player he will be just wait later into the season when he starts shooting the ball. His shot looks way smoother and he has a softer touch.
