Jimmer! making NAOS cry now

I agree that Jimmer should be the starting PG especially over Evans. Tyreke is not a PG. I have been impressed so far with Jimmer. I think he can be a very good NBA player. My big concern about his defense is as big now. Not that he will ever be a great defender I think he is ok. I think most NBA guards are average defenders mostly due to the no hand check rule. I can only imagine how many more assists Stockton would have had if people were not allowed to hand check when he played. LOL.

So Spazz, what you're saying is there are teams in the NBA who actually guard the three? No way! Please call Corbin and let him in on this secret the Jazz have never heard.

Another myth that lives on despite fact (such as the fact that during Sloan's tenure, the Jazz were more often than not above mediaqn in opponents 3pt %).

This video shows him being doubled, I'm curious if he was ever tripled out there.

There's a difference between a double-team and failing to handle a screen properly. I didn't see a deliberate attempt to double-team out by the perimeter.

Exactly. I read through John Hollinger's NBA profiles and it seems like EVERY PG was considered a poor defender by his analysis. The reality is that with the no hand-check rule, most point guards can get by their defenders regularly. The only guys that can stop this are usually much taller/longer (LeBron guarding DRose in the playoffs). The most effective NBA defenses are designed to funnel the dribbler into a shot-blocker. The best PGs can do is cause turnovers, handle pick-n-rolls and make sure they are directing (not stopping) their assignments.

It is a double team when there are two players defending one player.
Jimmer should learn to hit the guy the double came from for an easy basket, but he still had 2 guys guarding him after the screen.
Call it what you want, I will call it a double team.

We would have to have the full game to be able to find out.

I hate to break it to you JazzSpazz, but you sound pretty foolish in this thread. There is a difference between a double team, trapping the point guard, and locking down on the pick and roll. Jimmer is not being double teamed in this video.

Also, in a previous post you claim that Jimmer has a better assist to turnover ratio than Tyreke Evans. Where are you getting your data? From one game? I don't know if you have very studied statistics, but that is an egregious error! Jimmer doesn't have an assist to turnover ratio yet. He still hasn't played in a real NBA game!!!

Sorry, I just feel the need to bring people back down to earth when they are being ridiculous.

I just happen to be on the surface of the earth. Just because you are holed up like golem under a mountain doesn't mean I need to go be with you.

Chillax. I was talking about the 2 preseason games Jimmer has played in because he has not yet played a regular season game. You act like stats for these games do not exist. Just because they are not on the back of a basketball card does not mean they did not happen. Am I claiming it's all that big of a deal, like you seem to think... no. Also, reread the post and maybe with a little luck you will catch on that I was passing on some things I saw on a Kings fan board. I thought it was interesting what they were saying, and what they thought of Jimmer.

I hate to break it to you, but you are the one that sounds foolish for overreacting to some post of mine.
You are right, I have not "very studied statistics", as much as you have not "very studied English or comprehension".

As to a double team, it doesn't matter that it comes as a trap or "lock down" after a pick and roll. If 2 guys are guarding one guy, even for a brief period of time, it is a double. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. The point of the double on the pick is to get a turnover or make a pass in to the open man very difficult, to counter any advantage gained by the pick. The roll is to take advantage of the open man now that there is..... duh duh duh.... a double team or in other words... two basketball players actively guarding one basketball player.

Simple arithmetic, don't let the big English words get in the way.
