What's new

the Jazz need to go after.....

ok u have any player in ur mind who is

1. known and respected well enough to make D-Will at least a little bit happy? (d will was FURIOUS after we traded away a role player in brewer. u think he is happy we traded away our second option?)
if you think someone like okafor will keep d-will happy, you are a moron.

2. a constant scoring threat who has a jumper (millsap can be inconsistant at times, so when he is, we need a backup PF who can perform at a high level)

3. right player that fits both 1 and 2 and is in a great situation for the jazz to persue (Lebron's decision can and i think WILL have domino effect on cavaliers franchaise and i think they will go on small rebuilding process, so they will be looking to trade away jamison, who was acquired as complementary player to Lebron, without asking for much)

if you come up with a player, please let me know.

I never said Okafor was the option. And you think Jamison has a consistent jumper? you obviously haven't watched him enough. He is one of the streakiest PF's in the league. And he disappeared during the playoffs. Millsap is a better defender and will actually SCORE more consistently than Jamison. And its not because of the outside shot. its because Millsap knows how to score inside. Jamison does not. He is soft.

The Jazz need balance. Scoring inside and outside. Having Jamison and Okur on the court at the same time will be horrible. The perimeter will be crowded. You need proper spacing to win. Even with Jamison and Fesenko there is still a problem with the pick and roll. Jamison fades away from the hoop. Not at it. he is overrated and over paid. And there is not point to go deep into the luxury tax for somebody who makes us worse or no better.

There is nobody available right now. Deron is not retarded and doesn't just want the Jazz to make a move. Deron knows we need a defensive center. He isn't stupid. Jamison solves nothing for us. Use fesenko right now and wait for a trade option to come up later. Don't just panic and make a moronic move because we lost Boozer.

Play Fesenko is the last option and its a better option than trading for Jamison..........Jamison is too old to guard SF's now. So he would just be backing up Millsap. And if he started than we would be horrible. We would have no inside scoring. We need a Center to clog the lane. And if we can't get anyone better than Fesenko than develop the kid. Let him play consistently for a year for once. Don't just trade to make a trade.

and i HAVE said BEST PLAYER TO BRING IN AT THIS MOMENT. please dont tell me you think we should just sit back and let fes and koufos develop. the lakers and now miami got better and we got worse. if you want to go on rebuilding mode then fine trade everyone away. but if u want to win RIGHT NOW we need to add pieces to compliment the loss of boozer. since we didnt go after favors, cousins, and beasley ( i think if we really wanted one of them we could have gotten them. I HATE YOU KOC GROW SOME BALLS) , i think the next best option is bringing in somebody like jamison and acquiring a big body cheap (i mean anybody can be better than koufos and fes)

yeah he is not ideal but who else? if we just wait here you know we wont get anything done. as time passes by KOC will start believing "hey our roster isnt bad! we can compete" because thats just who he is. and i know he can be inconsistant but he does have the talent and with dwill he could be much more consistant. you act like jamison is al harrington but he is not. he does have low post game. and i do think he can play pick and roll bball. oh and i dont know about d-will patiently waiting at a time like this. you think d-will is happy, regardless of if its the right move or not, when three of his buddies just joined in miami and are poised for a championship while the jazz are pursuing AL HARRINGTON?

Fans like you should just watch another sport. You do no research but you expect the world.
First off Favors is a huge project. He will take 3-4 years to develop.
And Beasley was traded for a 2nd round pick and the right to swap future 1st round picks. That means it will be a lottery pick. Do we have a lottery pick coming up to trade away? no so stop assuming we could of offered something better. And Milllsap is better than Beasley right now. He is a better defender and rebounder. Beasley is HORRIBLE at both of those. Beasley has a better outside shot but he is not crafty enough to score inside YET. But either way we had no chance of landing him.

Jamison is horrible period!

A big body cheap? please go look at the free agents available and look at big bodies who teams are willing to trade. THERE IS NOBODY AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW! You just expect KOC to pull a rabbit out of his ***. trust me i was hoping for trades in the past. But I am being realistic. There is nothing worth doing right now. Most players we want aren't available.

If you have followed the Jazz for very long you would know most of the moves the Jazz make aren't rumors before hand. Jazz keep things very secret. And who knows if Harrington is true. His agent could of contacted us. And lets say we contacted him to find out his asking price. Who cares! He won't be coming here unless we trade away AK.
Jamison does not have a low post game. He throws up floaters before he gets too close to anybody. He plays like a SF.
D-Will isn't going to over react to the situation like you are. You need to take a valum and calm down and realized the needs of the jazz and also how the players complement each other. Trading for Jamison would hurt our flexibility for next year. And Millsap would be wasted if Jamison started. They cannot play together. Boozer and Millsap could during stretches because they were both physical and strong. Jamison is soft and gets pushed underneath the hoop way too easily.

We should stop worrying about scoring so much. Defense at the center position is what we need. After that than we can worry about scoring. But not pay 25 million for the PF spot. When neither of those players (Jamison, Millsap) can play the SF or C position consistently.

Also AK is more flexible to move around. And the trade exemption won't work because would go into the luxury tax about 10 million again. And trading away AK's expring for him would be moronic.

breezy,
1.how do you know the Jazz didn't pursue a trade pretty hard? In the end, NO ONE traded up/down in the entire lottery. Pretty much every draft board had the first 5 picks pegged, then it was a crap shoot from 6-14. To jump up to 4 or 5 to grab Cousins, a potential franchise center, would have taken a lot of assets. Millsap + the #9, would that have done it? Not sure.

2. I agree re: Hayward. Better than what I expected. Certainly not a skinny, unathletic white kid. I think he gets around 15 mins/per.

3. Beasley? Nah. He'll be like Drew Gooden. A good 2nd-tier guy. But he doesn't play tough and is not a good rebounder. Give me Millsap and hold a salary spot for a bigger 4/5.

4. On the contrary, I think DWill is happy. Don't you remember a couple of seasons ago when he and Boozer were barely speaking to each other? And Deron lobbied for the Jazz to re-sign Millsap. He has consistently said Millsap can be a starter in the NBA if given the chance. His quote re: Boozer was pretty unemotional, unlike when Brewer was traded.

5. Jazz will be o.k. at the 4 with Millsap and AK. What we need is a true 5 or a 4/5. Gortat's name has been tossed around. Haywood would have been a good fit, but he re-signed with Dallas. Jazz may not be able to make a good deal until the trade deadline. Then there will be some teams wanting to clear salary so they don;t get dinged as much by the luxury tax, or so they can start rebuilding. Patience.

1. yeah you are right, i have no clue what the front office did so i cant say we didnt pursue hard enough, im just frustrated to see cousins go to another team.

2. hayward isnt a bad player, but i dont know why we didnt draft a 4/5?

3. i disagree with you. i think beasley would have been a nice backup to millsap at a great price tag and the right situation ( miami didnt ask much)

4. sure, dwill might have had personal problem with boozer but the fact that we just got worse is indeed a problem for dwill as he is a tremendous competitor. and at a time when his buddies bron wade and bosh are joining forces? i bet he is unhappy more than happy.

5. we will be ok but we will be out first round of playoffs. if we are gonna go through that i think we need to just go on rebuilding mode. make this team better or rebuilding, we need to make that decision QUICK

I take back what I said about NO trades being made by lottery teams. I forgot about Cole Aldrich going to OKC in exchange for Brackins and Poindexter (#21 and #26). But the real point is that the top 5 picks had great value and the next 9 were a tier down. Maybe Monroe and Aminu had a bit more value than the rest. They were consistently in the top-10 on almost all draft boards from Day 1. But the rest moved up and down. I don't see what the Jazz could have offered. Put yourself in the position of the other team(s). What would you have demanded from Utah to give up your top-5 pick?

AS for not drafting a 4/5, our choices at #9 were Davis, Aldrich and Sanders. Patterson is undersized; no way could he provide depth at the 5. Or we could have traded down perhaps and picked up Seraphin, Orton, or one of the other numerous bigs taken in early 2nd. I wonder if fans would have booed as loudly if KOC had announced Cole Aldrich as the pick. I'm just guessing, but I think they would have.

I think the only viable bigs were Sanders and Davis. Obviously, KOC didn't have them rated that highly on the draft board.

We'll continue to disagree about DWill. I think he was consulted. He's not a dummy. He knows that if the Jazz had given Carlos $16M, then that was it. The team was locked up. AK would have to be dumped, but no one else could be brought in via his expiring. Now I will say this. If KOC does nothing else - i.e. if the TPE's expire, if AK's expiring isn;t dealt, then I think Deron pitches a fit and demands a trade. And he would be justified.

but WHO ELSE?!! (if we want to win NOW)

but WHO ELSE?!! (if we want to win NOW)

What is your definition of win now? because trading for Jamison isn't going to make us contenders. we will be 4-7 in the playoff race with our without Jamison. It doesn't matter much. It doesn't make or break the team. I don't understand your logic?

We need a Defensive Center and we also need a 2nd option to run the offense. Take pressure off of Deron. And those 2 things are hard to come by.

yes and i think antawn is the best scoring threat we can get right now. he is not ideal i know but he wouldnt be bad backing up millsap. we could get gortat in a S&T maybe? we will at lease be better with jamison than just sit back and have another season pass by. if we are just gonna be 4-7, why dont we just realize it now and go on rebuilding mode, which we will lose deron in the process...not good.

No way we can get Gortat. And I have no idea who you are thinking we can Sign and trade for gortat? We don't have anything they want. Would have to be a 3 team trade. Not likely

Whether we have Jamison or not the season would pass by the same. 1st or 2nd round than out of the playoffs. Than we are stuck with the same team as the year before. Without Jamison we have flexibility the next year to improve.

We are better off staying Mediocre rather than rebuilding. The only reason you rebuild is if you have over paid players and know you can't go anywhere. You don't rebuild when your a playoff team and have Deron Williams.
