I loved this guy. One of my favorite Jazz guys of all time. I realize he had his limitations and struggled with defense, but let's celebrate what he did right. You will be missed my friend.

holy sheeet.
Memo is one guy I know I'd like to hang out with.
Good guys like him are rare.

While I do not disagree with the trade itself, I'm sad to see Memo go. For the same reason I'm sad to see AK go. I choose to remember the good times.

Plus, as far as their off-court lives go, Memo and AK were outstanding citizens of SLC. I hope at least one of them keeps a home in Utah after retirement.

yeesh, I almost broke down a minute ago.

Memo, I was excited when the Jazz first picked you up. (I heard the breaking news on the radio), I was glad you extended, I was horrified when you tore your tendon, and now I am sad that you won't be able to stay for one last year.

Good Bye Memo.

God bless you Okur. You and your triple chin gave me the confidence I needed to go out in public again. Thanks to you I snagged me a hottie that's on par with your wife.

God damn it. He was my favorite jazz player of all time and now I have to watch the Nets whose bet player is DWill, player that I used to like until last season and his fights with Jerry Sloan. Talk about a sad day. I started watching Jazz games before he moved from Detroit but he was the main reason along with AK47 that I was buying NBA League Pass for TV over the last 4-5 years. To make it even worse I just signed for another year with my cable company.
Like the other guy said I broke down a minute ago... :(

Sorry the vid sucks. Couldn't find anything else.

That wasn't a huge shot but it's still my all time favorite Memo. That was a huge game for the season and Memo had been coming up huge for quite a few games.

Edit** Actually I don't think that's the shot. Here's a summary I found of the one I'm thinking of.

Jazz vs. Spurs 2004-05 Coming into the game the Spurs had won 18 straight against the Utah Jazz, and the Jazz had lost 9 in a row. The Jazz played a remarkably close game with the Spurs and lead going into the final moments. The once hopeful season had turned into a disaster with injuries and horrible loss and horrible loss. But the Jazz managed to pull some magic out of their hat on this game.

With second remaining Keith McLeod drove to the hoop for what he hoped would be the game winning lay-up, he missed by Mehmet Okur was there for the buzzer beating put back and the Jazz snapped the Spurs dominance over them

Memo had one of the smoothest jump shots for a big man I've ever seen. Imagine him and Hornacek on the same team... And he was a better defender and rebounder than he was generally given credit for. Not super-star level, but better than many other NBA C's...

Love ya Memo! We will really miss you! I'm happy that you're going to get to play with Deron again. I got the feeling that you guys really liked playing with each other. That'd also be fun if the Nets signed AK. I also hear that Ronnie Brewer is available. That'd be so cool if the Jazz were all reunited in New Jersey instead of Chicago. Cuz no true Jazz fan forgets those Finals pains we went thru against the Bulls. :) lol

Stay awesome, my friend. I'll be rooting for you in New Jersey!

Of course this is a free message board but I sincerely request; It would be very classy(like Memo) if only sincere appreciation messages were written down rather than creepy jokes. It was already unfair that Memo has being as the easiest target for all the blaming.

Anyway, thanks for everything that you have done for my Jazz team Memo. I wish you could retire there.

I will miss you in Jazz uniform and always remember with it. And now I have to watch that funny team just for you.:(

I thought about this once. What if Memo had been born 10 years earlier. Imagine him on those '97 and '98 teams instead of Ostertag.

I'm sorry to see Memo go. Class act, great memories. Actually, though, we should be happy for him. He'll play more in NJ and be teamed with D-Will, who knows how to use him. If there was a chance for a second act to his career, it'll be higher in NJ than in Utah.

Love ya Memo.

Memo, I owe you a lot. My wife hated the jazz but always identified with you for some reason and eventually you helped her come around to basketball. Instead of getting nagged to Change the channel she began supporting the obsession. Never forgetcha mang.

Going to really miss memo.

I hope he does really well with the Nets. He will get a standing ovation from me when he returns to play against the Jazz.
