Clarkson Likely to Get Extension

Excuse me sir?!?!? Monty doesn't make it up... he hears it from an actual insider then adds the words "my sources" which is very vague. Who are his sources... this guy called Hoopshype.com
Funny thing is that is a pretty easy situation to read. The Jazz can only offer a certain amount, JC has clearly played over that amount. You can make up a "source" and just say that and look smart.

Let's get one thing straight.... Monty is NEVER concerned about looking smart.

Hmmm. It's pretty apparent Klutch is not going to accept "a Norm Powell type contract" for JC. The national media finally starts to figure out something that Klutch and their syncophants have been parroting on the down low for a minute now.

If they don't trade him...After he opts out the Jazz would still have bird rights and can go over the cap and pay whatever they want to re-sign him.

A 4 year contract starting at $20mil + 8% yearly raises is going to cost them approx 4/$90mil. Honestly I think that amount is still quite a bit lower than what Klutch is going to be seeking from the Jazz. Maybe their demands come down a bit at some point.

We have no idea if JC actually asked to be traded in the past few days. That is between Klutch and the Jazz organization. If in fact he asked to be dealt I think they should respect his wishes and send him to a contender which they have already done for the other guys from last year's squad. I'm sure JC enjoys playing in Utah but it has to bother him to see Royce, Ingles, Don playing on legit title contending teams.

Detroit isn't a contender doe.

If JC wants to leave then I think we should trade him to wherever we get the best return. If it happens to be a contender then great. Mitchell ended up in Cleveland but if we were respecting wishes he'd be in New York. Detroit and Minnesota aren't contenders.

Sure, but how many non-contenders are going to want to trade for Clarkson?

Nah, but I'm definitely not going to take it as fact that he wants to be traded purely based off of something Monty said. I'll believe it once an actual reputable reporter says it, until then I'm assuming it never happened and Monty is just making things up like usual.
i know i know was reffin pipers puffy

Ehm.... why would we shut down JC trade rumors by saying we are discussing extensions only to not discuss extensions?

Hopefully it's the Jazz trying to drive up the price.

It honestly might just be that the extension talks are not all that real because the numbers we can offer aren't lining up with what he would want. There is also an element of "hey we genuinely want to keep this guy so make a really good offer". IDK... its kinda weird.
