Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I really want the jazz to push for Murray and Collins. They need to make a move. I'll offer them anything besides Lauri, Kessler and Ochai plus picks. Maybe this year's worst 1st, and either two more protected or one more unprotected. Too much too little?

Ujiri does not get taken advantage of though. I think you watch Toronto but would be surprised if they gave away value in a panic move (they are very flush with cash too).
I agree with that, but players are not happy right now there. But maybe it's just a coaching change that needs to happen and some small trades or fair trades. They just seem like a good trade partner with us.

OG has played 43 and 48 games the last two seasons. He could potentially be a 1.5 year rental. Not sure why any team would line up to pay two unprotected firsts+ for him.

and he's a suspect shooter. pretty good defender, but nothing to write home about. not a playmaker at all. completely meh about him. i'd take him if i'm buying low. two unprotected firsts, hell to the no.

OG is getting overrated right now. I wouldn’t do much more than an unprotected first and a protected first for him.
Its not even the player or the contract length for me... its the timing of those things and where we are. This year really doesn't matter much... so 1/3 of that "value" is just going to be wasted. I would not want to put a Cavs/Wolves pick in the deal tbh. I would rather put one of those picks with one of our picks this year to move and get a guy we are targeting.

Yeah its tough for them because if you sell off FVV and OG then why keep Pascal? If they sold off one of those guys and thought they could hit a homerun in the lotto then its nice having the other guys there already. I think they end up moving Trent Jr. and FVV since both are FA now... but I could see them keeping OG this year and seeing how the lotto plays out before making a decision there... unless someone gets wild. I'd be calling them for sure but doubt they are the "sucker" Danny is looking for.

I like Murray but I doubt the ownership sells him off now. They will want to play the year out. If he lets them know that Trae and him aren't gonna be great long term I think you can get a solid deal on him as an expiring. Its risky of course cuz he can walk for nothing. In between now and then we should get some CBA news and maybe extension issues are fixed... would push his value higher but I'd likely be willing to pay the price. You'd also see what you did in the draft and could plan around that... which is important imo.

We do not need to limit ourselves to it being a backcourt player.
Seeing how well Lauri and JC combo works offensively in Hardys system I'm inclined to think a higher end version of him would work even better.

But you are right in the sense that in the draft we should look for best talent and not lock in on a stereotype.

However keep this in mind: as flexible as Lauri is positionally... Kessler is not. If we want the best out of both, we are definitely gonna need a very good playmaker.

The Hawks gave up 3 first round picks, two of which were unprotected and a pick swap for Murray. I doubt they will give up on him after half a season.

I think the perfect balance on a John Collins trade is Beasley and Vando (or KO if they prefer) for Collins and the right to swap the Philly pick with the Hawks pick top 12 protected and if the pick falls in the protections we get the Kings pick instead. So we either move up like 10 spots in the draft or get an extra protected pick. I think that is the best middle ground.

I looks to me like the middle of the first round (where our two best picks probably end up) has mocks thinking it will be loaded mainly with shooting guards. That is the position we seem to have the most players already. Maybe that will factor into decisions with trades too.

I think they end up regretting this deal... they have a Trae Young problem and I think they will keep spinning off parts until they address it.

I agree with this. The previous ask was correct at that time but Hawks couldnt do it because it looked too much like a dump. This one wouldnt.

I like the creativity. I wouldn't be thrilled about taking on the Collins contract, but would be excited about the improved draft position/picks. I would also be curious to see what Hardy could do with Collins.

Good work.

Memphis is one to watch... if they don't do a big swing for OG (which they should) I think Beasley for Green and LaRavia is something I'd do. Memphis just has like 5-6 roster spots dedicated to developing players (Aldama, Laravia, Roddy, Zhaire, Chandler) and some of those guys can contribute in roles in the regular season but not sure you want 2-3 of those guys in the rotation during the playoffs. They love their first round picks so I could see those being off limits. Beasley give them a smidge of Brooks insurance since he could bolt this offseason.

Green would be great to work with Ochai imo and let him get his legs back here. I like LaRavia long term as a prospect... he hasn't been awesome this year but that's fine.

New Orleans makes a lot of sense as a Beasley landing spot.

We can take back Devonte Graham plus salary filler. Graham’s salary isn’t as bad as I thought. It is 11.5M this year, 12.1M next year and only 2.85M guaranteed in 2024-25.

They have their own first in 2024 and the option to take the Lakers first in 2024 or 2025.

I would be targeting picks in 2024 since it is likely we may not have one since OKC owns our pick and it is only top-10 protected.

Final deal would be something like:

Beasley for Graham, Marshall and the 2024/2025 Lakers first

I really like Marshall... I'm fine with Graham but he makes more sense if we moved Mike too. They won't give the Lakers pick. I could see them giving up the worse of their pick or the Lakers pick in 2024 or 2025... the wording would be tricky. Maybe they'd do the Bucks pick they own.

That trade is really rough.
maybe, but the idea that they can get more for Vander and NAW seems unrealistic. I think something like this could work for Ainge, even though its pretty much just rolling the dice on 1 good guard that is very similar to Young Bull and taking a flier on a couple unprovens that are buried on a contenders roster. I like the odds Nnaji is a rotation big here day one. The 3rd man is just a overpicked G league project, but has some interesting potential defensively but is nowhere near as far along as Vander despite being of the same mold.
