Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Genuine question but are people forgetting DLo is an UFA this summer?
I think the idea of trading for him is to get his bird rights. Of course, this requires some understanding between the team trading for him and the player's camp about resigning

In my opinion that’s why the Lakers may want him. Gives them a chance to improve their roster this year while maintaining cap flexibility this summer. Beasley works for them in that regard as well.

Yeah, which is why LA wants him most likely. It's all Kyrie insurance. They will see if Kyrie wants to sign in LA, if he doesnt they will keep D'Lo/Rui and run it back with Bron/AD.

I get that but I cant see the Clips doing this and they are talked about as Minny's leverage. If only one team prefers a dude being UFA then you dont have leverage.

I cant see any other team being stoked about giving up pieces to get an UFA DAngelo Russel

I think the biggest issue is that the Lakers don't want to take on any long term money so they'd prefer Russell. But there's really no reason for the Wolves to do a Conley/DLo swap if they're not getting a pick or something to sweeten the deal.

Why don’t they have max space? Looks like only guaranteed money next year is James, Davis, and someone names Max Christie.
You'd have those guys and a cap hold for Reeves and like 4 other minimum salaries. You'd have to waive Rui's bird rights as well. Then you are left with like $30M... so you hope Kyrie takes less than the max to jump ship I guess? But you are then left with minimum salaries to fill out the rest of the roster.

I think that Lakers deal is dead now tbh, there's no reason for us to give up three guys without getting draft picks back, no reason for the Wolves to do a Conley/Russell swap if they don't get a sweetener.

They would need to if they want to keep Beasley/Vando/Hachimura.
A sign and trade for Kyrie was always the best plan... which is part of the reason you'd want Conley and to keep one pick.

The Jazz should be willing to trade Mike Vando Beasley for one unprotected pick and some seconds imo... or a swap this year. I know everyone is hung up on "just one pick" it is a quality pick and like $30M in cap space... we will be okay.

Dallas would have to be interested in taking him back though.

There’s definitely reason for the Wolves to do it without a sweetener - if they lose him as a UFA (seems likely) they can’t replace him

There is some middle ground we can work... one really good pick is worth like 2-3 protected picks we'd get by doing separate deals... and I doubt we would honestly get that without some ****** salary coming our way.

There's always a possibility they could swing a trade for Lowry, FVV, or another veteran PG they might value higher.

Youre my guy but you keep acting like a single unprotected Lakers pick HAS to be a top 3...........it could very easily be a 9th pick. There is risk thats very real on that.

I agree, I think it's time to tank so we need to make a move. Sounds like we were good with the deal, Minny pulled out, Lakers are hesitant to take on Russ deal

There are two reasons to do any trade with the Lakers:

1. Get worse this year to improve our pick
2. Get the Laker's PICKS, not pick. That can come in the form of unprotected picks, with at most a top 1 protected pick (but why tempt the league), and/or unprotected pick swaps

Nothing else REALLY matters outside of keeping our top 3 guys.
