Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Yeah, I’m not sure how I am eating crow when I was going off of a fake report from someone on here.
You said it's superduper-awesome - because the Lakers will be awful. If that's true, then it's most likely a 2nd rounder. Then it has little trade value, and you can't just say we won't be the one using it.

@Handlogten's Heros do you still like this trade?
Yes... I am team tank. I REALLY liked it before... but the pick protections give just a little pause that makes me uneasy. Under the worst case scenario where the pick lands top 4 and we don't get it... I am still cool with it. The cap space and the tank are important aspects of the deal.

NAW proves he's useful and is a RFA. All I can do is shake my head at this nonsense. Again, I hope we trade JC so he doesn't have to drown in this garbage.

We did. Pretty garbage trade. Really gonna suck of conley makes our wolves pick worse

Watch him and NAW both help them big time. If he plays as well for them as he played for us and the coach actually gives him consistent minutes then he can help them a ton off the bench.

Full deal:

Jazz out: Conley, Beasley, Vanderbilt, NAW, three second round picks

Jazz in: Westbrook, Toscano-Anderson, Jones, lightly protected 2027 Lakers first

Holy hell that looks so bad. Especially if it ends up being a 2nd round pick to the jazz instead of a first rounder

Oof that clarified pick protection hurts. Also major copium to say “it’s someone else’s problem” as if this does not effect the trade value of that pick haha. If the plan is to trade the pick it is our problem.

I didn’t value what we sent out much, so I think this is still a deal I would have accepted, but this definitely isn’t a slam dunk. It’s worse than 99% of the fake versions of this trade made on this forum, including versions coming from people who like this trade (myself included). Please do not pretend that when we put Lakers 2027 in the trade posts we actually meant 1-4 protected and then it turns into a second.

Unlike others I won't receive new information and ignore it... and in some cases dig deeper. Its still an acceptable deal and pushes us the direction we should go... just has a little extra downside.

It is crazy that we didn't at least get the possible option of a pick swap or 2 put into the deal.
Here here.

Sometimes pick swaps are reportedly later. I am still holding on to hope.

A 2027 top 4 protected first going to a 2028 second is fart creme. A 2027 going to unprotected 2028 is ok.

I just think we could have received more by separating out players in individual deals rather than doing a 4 for 1 possible first:

Thybulle for vando
Collins and 2 seconds for Russell
Beasley and vando for Toppin and a protected 1st

We did send out 4 players and we are taking back 2, so we do have 2 spots available. That makes me think we could be picking up the Warriors deal shortly which is a consolation that I like.

I mean most of us literally clarified that we'd want it unprotected and the trade value of that pick does take a hit. I would just hold it... we have 6 other unprotected picks from other teams... a top 5 protected from another team... and like 5-6 of our own unprotected picks... those are the ones with the most trade value if you need to get a star.

The pick protection is a problem. Would’ve rather done a pick swap this year and just punted on protections tbh. I’m fine with getting a lottery ticket, but I don’t want to pay a premium price to get it. Just the standard $2 is fine.

If this was all they could get out if it, I wish they just would’ve made a deal at the beginning of the season with Bogey standing in place of DLo for the top value going to the Lakers and then looked to move Beasley/Vando at the deadline. I bet we could’ve come up with a deal similar to this without the risk of losing the pick altogether and put the success of the team on the backs of Markkanen, Sexton, Kessler, Agbaji, Vando and Beasley.
