Fair and honestly admirable. Some major copium going on around these parts lol. The trade was a lot worse than we all expected, but the trades we posted were 100% slam dunk trades. This is not a slam dunk but still positive imo. We are in a better than if we had ended up doing nothing, and the alternatives of getting a combo of 1-2 bad first rounders and/or mediocre prospects/players plus bad salary is not something to be frustrated about. Having said that, I think it’s fair to question if we could have gotten more doing a yard sale to different teams.

One of the things about tanking is that on the surface it makes it almost impossible to “lose” a trade deal when you’re sending out vets. But judgement will come when the Jazz actually have to start winning something. At the end of the day, it doesn’t how many assets you acquire, only the end result matters.

And I think I was pretty consistent is saying we wouldn't get both picks and one is just fine. Its certainly not perfect and the trade value is what I hate most of all. To maximize the value of that pick we will have to hold it.

Its not average at all. Still coveted because there is consensus around the league that this pick will be a lottery pick. High lottery probability is what makes this pick valuable. Would've been better unprotected but still very high value pick.

All complaints/minor gripes about the trade aside, we all agree the most important aspect of the trade is how it allows us to make our pick this year better, right?

You realize all three of those things can be true at once right? It quite literally was the most coveted pick available which was dampened by the protections a little. I’ve been preaching to trade Conley since the beginning of the year. It also might not be our pick to worry about. I know critical thinking is hard.

I will say he is probably right, but if you are a **** house of a team you can easily position yourself to be the worst team in the NBA that season and have the pick likely not convey. Or have dumb luck in the lottery and have it not convey.

that wasn't the purpose... the leftovers of the Rudy trade and the spare parts we had are what got moved... and the same folks are complaining we didn't get enough... when we sold off the stuff we got... if that makes sense.

There's a lot of minutes at the 1-3. And you can play small and play dudes at the 4. There's plenty of minutes. They have plenty of picks.

I mean, it is a legit comparison and the truth is that the pick that will probably end up the best is the one we got in this Lakers trade and not for Don or Rudy.

We didn’t get a single premium pick for Don or Rudy which is/was a legit criticism of those deals. We got a lot of them, of course, but no premium picks. Thankfully Markannen and Kessler are proving to be the premium, high end talent the trades seemed to be lacking on the surface.
