Why an A+ for Smith specifically? Just curious.I'd call the trade a B for the Jazz.
A+ for Ryan Smith though.

It is not a surprise that DA wouldn't value 2nd rd picks. I don't think over his entire career he has hit on a single 2nd rd pick which is shocking. I'm not sure how that is even possible.- I have a lot of different thoughts right now. Logically I get it, but I'm not super excited.
- Clearly DA doesn't value 2nd round picks, like at all. When you take that in to consideration, then it makes more sense. We probably could have gotten loads of seconds for those players, but instead we are getting rid of seconds in order to get a first.
- It's hard to argue with the value since I have no doubt every possible deal had been discussed. Ultimately what can be argued is our strategy. Clearly we wanted that Lakers first. We also wanted to improve our draft position this year without taking back long term salary, and opening cap space for next year.
- I think it's fair to be upset about timing. It would have been nice to be in the running for top lottery odds vs hoping to get to top 6.
- The crazy unexpected part of the trade that I don't like is moving NAW. We finally opened up plenty of minutes for him, and now he's gone. I really couldn't have imagined I would be upset about losing NAW at the start of the year.
- I'll miss Conley. I'll miss watching an offense run by a true point guard. I'll miss what he brought to the team. I had hoped if we traded him he would have gone to a contender instead of the mess in Minnesota. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact he has there. I think it could be pretty big, since that team is so awful at passing. I'm guessing Minnesota is betting on Mike reestablishing his connection with Rudy, which I'm sure it will help him on the offensive end. I'm just not sure Minnesota can be good playing KAT and Rudy together, and with this version of Rudy on the defensive end.
- Kind of feels like we let the Lakers win this trade. I'm not a big believer in any of the guys they are getting, and potentiality they don't really improve, but the surface optics will be that they killed this trade, and that has me feeling yucky.
Get off of the 23 million you owe Conley next season. Why an A+ for Smith specifically? Just curious?
Gotcha. But it costs you Westbrook’s buyout now. If they actually DO something with the cap space, then it’s a win for everyone.Get off of the 23 million you owe Conley next season.

I guess we’ll see.

The pick was highly sought after because it was projected to be a top 4 pick. Now if it actually is a top 4 pick it's worthless. That Lakers pick is going to be highly sought after and will probably headline a major trade for us. I see it as equal to the Nets pick they traded for Kyrie that became Sexton
The Jazz only added 3 million in total salary this year. Buying out isnt extra money, you are just paying them to go home. So they will something back monetarily.Gotcha. But it costs you Westbrook’s buyout now. If they actually DO something with the cap space, then it’s a win for everyone.

At worst, it has the same exact value as the Wolves ‘29 pick. I’ll admit that I’m underwhelmed that there’s ANY protections, but it’s still likely to convey as a 1st round pick. The value comes from what it COULD be when we trade it, and DA gave up too much chance on that end of it.That Lakers pick is going to be highly sought after and will probably headline a major trade for us. Best we can do is to pray it becomes a late lotto pickThe pick was highly sought after because it was projected to be a top 4 pick. Now if it actually is a top 4 pick it's worthless.
This one and KO. Feel like we weren't clear winners. I guess the sales pitch is 1 pick, revs the tank and puts the fakers ahead of the pups.Yeah, I dont give a F about losing Vando or Beasley, it's just the fact that the Lakers get all these assets for very little while Utah has to add sweeteners for getting a top 4 protected pick. Just kind of ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh from Ainge.
How does it help the Lakers with flexibility?
So they couldn't trade 2029 without the projections? They can trade their 2029 first.
Yeah that’s my biggest disappointment out of the whole deal. Forget about that great incoming wing now.Jason Hart traded to knicks for Reddish and 1st round pick so tell me why the Jazz couldn't get a first for Bogie?
