Millsap starting

Say hello again to awful interior defense and being out-rebounded with the 1st unit. I agree with David Locke on this one in his opinion of Locke saying on his blog that he didn't think that the starting lineup was the problem, we lead for most of the first quarter in L.A. against the Lakers and was still in the game in Denver for most of the 1st and 2nd quarters.
You realize the Jazz start the 3rd quarter with the starters, right?

The starters were a combined -109 vs. the Lakers, the bench was a combined -16 v. the Lakers (the bench combined for more minutes than the starters).

The starters were a combined -60 v. the Nuggets, the bench was a combined -25 v. the Nuggets (again, the bench played more than the starters).

The Jazz outscored their opponents last season with Millsap on the court. The Jazz were also better rebounding the ball with Millsap on the court than off the court last season.

Not that these are the only statistics that matter, but you should probably consider these things before agreeing blindly with David Locke, who just so happens to be a complete ****ing moron. The starters have been absolutely thrashed in the first two games, and the Jazz have consistently been better defensively and on the boards with Millsap on the court.

The bench plays a lot of garbage time in the 4th when the other team has obviously stopped trying. Perfect example was the Lakers game. Millsap is dominating, scoring 7 straight points, then Kobe comes back and score 7 back effortlessly. Our bench isn't playing any better than the starters, they just play when the other team isn't trying.

I agree that the raw numbers are not an accurate depiction of what's going on out there, but I don't agree that the bench has been just as bad as the starters. The bench has played better.

With all that said, Raja and Devin are still starting, and an Al-Millsap frontcourt certainly has weaknesses. It'll probably still be pretty ugly.

It's going to be a very long and ugly season.

Lottery here we come! Whoo hoo
It's what I want, but seeing Ty make questionable coaching decisions is very discouraging. Good thing he isn't under contract for very long. I want to give him a chance, but it isn't looking good so far.

Poor TY, he picked up on some of jerrys bad habits. And that's going to be his down fall.
It's almost like he is putting pressure on himself to be like Jerry. He needs to be his own person.

This should be the starting Line up

Hayward
Burks
Cj
Millsap
Favors

Yes Hayward can play the point. He would at least be better than Harris.
He's the closest thing we have to someone making plays for others.

I think Hayward/Burks at the point is fine as long as the other is in the game. The two have good passing skills.

Alternate Title: "Corbin Admits to "Not Having a Clue About This Head Coaching Thing"".

Think about it: changing his starting line-up after 2 games? He either screwed up royally with the first one or he is in panic mode. Or even worse, both. I mean, come on man, don't you give a lot of thought to your starters at the beginning of the season? And then you have zero stick-to-it-ness?

Exactly.

And didn't we try this line up last year? How did that workout?

Can someone take the stat sheet from Ty and show him some game film.

Well Favors should get more minutes. When we are down by 30 points after the starters play their 3rd stint in the 3rd quarter we should be down far enough that all the young guys will finish a lot of games this year.

Millsap and Jefferson on the floor together is a complete joke. Playing them from the beginning just means we'll be down more early and the young guys will play more.

Can someone suggest to Ty that he go coach Poughkipsie High for a couple of years, then Sotuhwest JC for a couple, then a few major college programs until he has a good and successful plan for being a HC?

I'm trying not to judge Corbin too quickly, but this is a bad, bad move. The fact that he's willing to pull the plug on Favors as a starter after 2 games is very disturbing. As has already been mentioned, I think it shows a ton of indecision on Ty's part, and as Locke said, the problem is not with the starting lineup. Favors should have been allowed to work through his foul problems as a starter.

It's really nice to see that the centerpiece of the D-Will trade and pretty much the biggest hope for Utah's future is getting yanked in and out the starting lineup after 2 games. Isn't that "Exhibit A" when it comes to how to ruin a young players confidence? I'm trying to have some sort of faith in what Ty is trying to do, but it's fading fast.

I had hope when I seen this..... Was hoping to see him at the 3 and slide Hayward to the 2... Then I opened it and cried

I'm curious as to whether those upset with the change would be similarly upset if it was Bell being removed from the starting lineup.

Obviously not because the problem is not that Milsap is starting, the problem is that Favors is the one getting benched. I think most of us are worried about what that's going to do to the young kid. I agree with Cope, stick Bell's *** on the bench, slide Hayward over to the 2 and lets see what Sap can do as the starting 3 alongside Favors.

Why can't we just try out what was discussed all Summer long? Run with Millsap at the 3 while keeping Al Jeff and Favors starting as well?

Edit: Just saw some of the posts and looks like that's been brought up, but it does need to happen!

What does it matter if Favors gets the same amount of minutes or more?

Of course not Most of us are upset that Bell was allowed to start in the 1st place.

I have really tried to be patient with Corbin. But this move screams desperation and/or lack of control of the situation.

This is what I don't get. Corbin is getting killed by sticking with lineups during the game, but is getting killed for changing the lineup.

Stop using the lineup as an excuse to complain. Just say, "Don't play Bell, Harris, or Jefferson" and be done with it. Or if you're actually going to tear into the coach, tear into him for not getting his team to play hard or try to execute properly.
