A corporation capturing a piece of the government is not capitalism. It is sometimes called 'crony-capitalism' but is more correctly termed 'corporatism' and it is usually illegal. Disney's capture of the Reedy Creek Improvement District was illegal. If you search online, you will find article after article telling you I'm wrong. It will be hard to find any sources telling you I'm right, and yet Disney is going to lose their Florida case. All of those last minute deals with Disney signed by the outgoing RCID board will all be invalidated, and once that happens the Federal case will also collapse because the Federal case is predicated almost entirely on Florida violating those same contracts.
The opinion shaping on this issue should be a lesson in what corporate entities like Disney are able to control but no one will learn a thing. It'll be claims of biased judges and governmental corruption to paint Disney as the victim. People will believe what they read, and nearly all of it will pushed into the media space by Disney's public relations. That said, at least this is going to cost Disney a boatload. Beyond all the cost for the PR, Disney is also paying for both sides of the legal fight. They have to pay for their own lawyers, and the taxpayers of the district have to pay for the government's lawyers, but 87% of the district's tax income comes from Disney.
