2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Counter: Ainge looks for any angle to improve the team in the long term. He probably has machinations of what to do when free agency etc commences, but the goal this season was always to get as high in the draft as possible and if the right deal comes along he will go for it.

Besides, who are the free agents that are gonna be worth throwing $60-$70+ million at?
Ainge trading for Kelly Olynyk in what was supposed to be a "tank" year doesnt vibe with Ainge caring that much about the long term.

Yeah, I would bet against them pursuing those deals.
I would bet against any single type of move... because the chances are much better you'd be right.

Ainge is opportunistic. His plans are fluid... if there is an opportunity he will jump on it.

I don’t think we could trade THT unless he opted in before the draft right?
Good point... he might agree to that if he was planning on opting in and liked the destination... but in general I hate any potential deal barriers.

I don't think there is an obvious salary dump situation though... Dallas may think they can get to cap space but they are more likely to re-sign Kyrie and operate above the cap.

Maybe if NY gets the Dallas pick at #11 or #12 and we want to move up to get Cason we take on Fournier.

I think its more likely we use picks to move up as its just an easier transaction.

jaquez seems like the quintessential great college player, but likely never really a rotation nba guy. 4 year college guy who still can't really shoot the three. but he was a really good college player. did a lot of things well at that level but underwhelming as a run/jump athlete and can't shoot it. gets the bulk of his points in the mid-range, posting guys up at 6'6-6'7 - that doesn't really fly in the league, generally speaking. screams college all-american who just can't get it done at the next level. could be an outlier, but not a guy i'd take in the first round, and probably a udfa.

Sadly, I think we go hard after Kuzma and try to overpay. Im not sold at all on kuzma.
