2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Little quicker too. It used to look like he needed a couple of seconds to set everything in motion to get a shot off. Release looks a little low still, but so does Steph’s to be honest and it doesn’t seem to hold him back.
I don’t buy open shooting in a gym by yourself… mechanics look better but part of the slow shot is likely making the decision between shoot, drive, pass stuff. I think he eventually shoots well enough on catch and shoot shots but the pull-up may always be rough.

Agreed. Possibly a confidence issue too. Doesn’t come natural to quickly step into the 3 when you have little confidence of making it. And then the whole thing spirals down. Good to see him working with a top shooting coach though.

As long as he is serviceable on catch and shoot shots he’d be a very high quality player.

His form breaks down due to confidence and dribbling. The shot just looks clunky/stiff, and when you add in his hesitancy to shoot, it results in the form getting ugly.
Repetition and work can help that. Overall I agree… all these guys make ‘em by themselves in a gym… in game it’s different. It’s good he’s working with Steph’s guy though I guess.

The kid is the typical gym rat worker supposedly… so if he has it in him I think it will come out.

This is what an open catch-and-shoot opportunity would look like. But yeah, it's when you add movement and dribbling that things might fall apart.
