Mock Draft Take 4

Well I wanted to go with podz for the jazz but since we got a Thompson and Wallace that wouldn’t make sense so I’m gonna take someone who I think is a steal at 28

Kris Murray

Kris is boring as hell... late in the first I think its a great pick though. Cheap backup wing/forward for 4 years that can play in his first year... again its not the sexy pick but I love it at 28

You gonna post round 2?

Do people want to still do Round 2? I suppose we can do it with fewer people involved if someone wants to drop out.

So the Jazz ended up with Ausar, Black, and Murray. However, we used all three 1st round picks this year, lost Sexton, gave up the 2027 unprotected Cavs pick, and had to take Bertrans. I'd certainly take that even if it wouldn't all be my first choice.

Only thing I really don't love is taking Black instead of Cason... once you got Ausar the shooting of Cason becomes even more important imo. Even so... this is not a bad outcome and maybe Ausar or Black is a better shooter than we expect.

Yup, that is why I said I liked it but it wasn't my first choice
why do you guys think Cason can shoot it? I don't see it being a asset for him. He will need 1 more starter than is a 50 40 90 guy than the Finnisher and Ochai out there, just to keep his lane options open, and even if he gets that he is not a great finisher shooting low % floaters. The defense is going to dare him to shoot all day long or let him take low % pull ups. I don't think Black is even a point guard in the league, not as is, not without 4 high level shooters with him, and in the playoffs he is coming off the bench at best

Black is 7th on my personal big board so I would gladly take him over Wallace regardless. I would go BPA and figure it out after that.

I would have taken Bufkin, personally. I believe in him.

I get it.. not trying to be critical... its just my shooting need and emphasis would increase once I made the Ausar pick. I will end up having Wallace ahead of Black on my next big board but they are both very close... and I get the appeal of Black for sure.

I think Cason and Ausar compliment each other pretty well. Both are elite defenders. Wallace is average size, but Ausar is elite size. Both have shown very good court awareness and play hard. Cason can shoot better from 3 and in the midrange while Ausar will be tough to stop on drives and shows flashes of a better shot. Both are very hard worker gym rats that actually love the game and want to improve. If it doesn’t work out together they will be on favorable rookie contracts that are easier to move too.
