2023 NBA Draft Megathread

BTW, there is a rumor floating around that Jarace Walker skipped his Pro Day because he has a promise from someone. Walker doesn't have a health issue with his elbow or whatever. He's been healthy and working out individually.
I hope that’s true because that would mean it’s a team that’s really high.

I don’t think it’s true, though. The range that Walker is typically projected (usually 5-8) is too fluid, IMO. Maybe it’s Houston?

That's the rumor. Someone could have told him, "We'll pick you at 7 if you're still available. You don't need to workout for other teams."

It could turn out to be true or bunk, but there doesn't seem to be a good reason for Walker to skip his own Pro Day.

Jarace Walker’s shooting stats:

40.6% on layups in halfcourt

30.2% on guarded catch and shoot 3’s

38% on unguarded catch and shoot 3’s

29.2% on dribble pull-up 2’s

Just doesn’t scream amazing to me.

I've soured on Hendricks ability to finish at the rim. Yes he has had a lot of dunks but his percentage is average. He is not going to get free clearance to dunk in the NBA. I would rather have Jarace. Although Hendricks has a high floor as a floor spacer and open roll to the rim player.

In what way? He’s a junior and Black is better than him at literally everything besides rebounding. If Jackson was doing what he did this season as a freshman he would be higher rated.
Jackson a better defender and better at hustle plays and passing is about equal. AJJ is just woefully bad at shooting/scoring

Is Black’s rim creating and finishing underrated? He shot 50% on layups in halfcourt (9.4% better than Jarace) on 3x the attempts.

I'm not off the bandwagon. However, the ONE THING that GG needs to demonstrate during the pre-draft process is that he's coachable and that his immaturity isn't a long-term issue. If all these rumors are true, it sounds like he's doing the opposite.

This is what happened with Hassan Whiteside in 2010. He was supposed to be a mid 1st-rd pick, then in pre-draft interviews he came off as unserious and clueless. He fell to #33 in his draft and had to struggle to stay in the league.
Yeah, I still believe in his potential, but I wouldn't want to be his first team.

The thing about a lot of these rookies is that these teams aren't that bad and have a lot of talent. A lot of the guys outside the top 5 will find it hard to get consistent minutes on their teams.

Taylor Hendricks shooting stats:

40% on layups in halfcourt

40.4% on guarded catch and shoot 3’s

42.1% on unguarded catch and shoot 3’s

40% on dribble pull-up 2’s

Just not really close to me.
