2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I think Beal to Philadelphia is also a possibility.
I could see that.. might depend on how Wiz view Herro. Philly only has one pick to offer and I would not trade Maxey if I was them.

Athleticism? Explosiveness? Speed?
The quickness that a player gets off the floor or their first step is something the combine doesn’t (can’t?) measure. So what you get are a lot of weird athletic testing info that doesn’t actually apply like Grayson Allen being an explosive athlete but you never really ever see it in a game.

Black’s measured athleticism and his functional athleticism doesn’t match up to me. What I see is that he needs to load up to get that burst and that fraction of a second can mean a lot. He can get up with enough time but the quickness is probably more important most of the time to my eyes and that quickness is honestly something I just don’t see that with Black.

But none of us know how any of this translates.

I definitely think we are dangling 16/28 to move up. Not sure I buy Bilal at 9.
Stein is probably most tied into Dallas... wonder if he knows there is some dialogue between us and Dallas. Seem like pretty natural trade partners. Maybe 16/28 for 10 and we take McGee's deal?

They could do some combination of a 2024 pick swap, 2029 pick swap and 2030 1st or 2029 1st and 2030 pick swap. Not sure that’s enough but that Beal contract is going to be really scary.

What do you want to be the result of Blacks athleticism? He's a great stocks guy, gets to the basket as much as anyone, rebounds well etc. These are all things I associate with functional athleticism. The only mark I'd have against his athleticism is that he can get blown by a lot by being too upright, but that's more of a technique thing imo.

Have you watched any Black film? Sounds like you’re getting him confused with someone else.

The result I am looking for is impact in the NBA. His quickness works fine at that level at his size but I am skeptical it will be a great strength at the NBA level.

Also, the original question was what Ausar provides better than Black, and he moves spectacularly.

And Tobias would give them a get out of jail free card. Just feels like Wiz could do better maybe. That Philly team likely sucks in 29-30 as the process 2.0 would be upon them by then.

He is outstanding at almost all the things that athleticism is supposed to lead to. I do think his POA defense is a tad overrated....but when I think about guys who make an impact with their athleticism I'm looking at guys who can get to the basket, get rebounds, and be a defensive playmaker. I don't know what he can do to prove that his athleticism is more functional because he's great at all that.

If he was averaging 3 rebounds per40, no steals, and never got to the basket I could see it....but he's on the opposite end of the spectrum.
